A Stellar Experience at YO! Sushi Plymouth
My recent visit to YO! Sushi in Plymouth was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the heart of the city, this vibrant sushi haven offers an immersive culinary experience that is hard to beat.
From the moment I walked in, the ambiance struck me. The decor is a delightful blend of contemporary and traditional Japanese elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The conveyor belt setup is a visual treat, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement watching the colorful array of dishes glide past.
The service was impeccable. Despite the busy evening, the staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that every customer felt welcomed. Iz, Izzy, and Nate were on shift, and they went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. As someone who often finds solace in the thrill of a roulette wheel or the shuffle of cards, the efficiency and smooth operation of the restaurant was akin to a well-oiled casino floor. It’s not often that I can find a place outside of a casino that gets my adrenaline pumping, but YO! Sushi managed to do just that with its dynamic dining experience.
The food itself was outstanding. Each dish was a masterpiece of fresh, high-quality ingredients. The salmon sashimi melted in my mouth, and the spicy tuna rolls had the perfect balance of heat and flavor. I was particularly impressed by the variety and innovation in their menu. From classic nigiri to inventive fusion rolls, every bite felt like hitting a jackpot.
As a gambling enthusiast, I couldn't help but draw parallels between the dining experience and my favorite pastime. Every plate on the conveyor belt was like a different game of chance, each offering a unique thrill. The prawn katsu, crispy and golden, felt like a safe bet that paid off handsomely, while the unexpected delight of the takoyaki was akin to a surprise win on a slot machine.
Even the dessert menu had its own allure. The mochi ice cream was a perfect ending, refreshing and sweet, much like the feeling of cashing out your chips after a good night at the tables. Each bite was a delightful reminder of the simple joys that can be found in both food and gambling.
As someone who lives for the highs and lows of betting, the anticipation of each dish at YO! Sushi, the satisfaction of a delicious bite, and the friendly atmosphere all contributed to an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to return and see what new culinary adventures await. YO! Sushi Plymouth truly offers a dining experience that rivals the excitement of a...
Read moreThis is a bit of a mixed review - in a nutshell great food and not bad value for money, but severely let down by a clunky ordering system and inattentive staff..
We turned up having booked a table and waited about 5 minutes for someone to come greet us and show us to our table next to the sushi belt.
Ordering now is via a website - you have to scan a QR code at your table and then order via the website. Great if you have a smartphone and it has battery.....
Once on to the website it's a bit painful to find the dishes, there's no search function and if you want 2 of the same you have to find it again and add it to your basket again.
Then it comes up that you have to create an account to order.....you can't just order without signing up to the website.
Next step is checkout. It automatically adds a 5% service charge, even though you're served by a robotic belt! You can decline this but if you exit to add something else then go back in it's added back on again.
This as also the point at which you enter any discount codes. If you have a blue light card you can get 25% off, make sure you have your code ready in the vault.
Here comes the kicker - the website will only accept Google Pay - you can't enter card details or pay via PayPal. Luckily I have Google pay but for some reason it wouldn't work.
Managed to eventually get the attention of the server who seemed more interested in her iPad than the customer and explained the issue. She said it happens a lot. We could order via her but wouldn't be able to apply our 25% discount. Pretty poor if the fault lies with their system. Before giving in we tried on my partners phone but had the same issue.
Another 5 minutes of getting the server's attention and we eventually manually placed an order at full price. She did upgrade one dish to a large one, but didn't really make up for the time lost and lack of discount.
The food did arrive pretty quickly, stopping at our table on the belt which has a traffic light system and was very tasty which sort of made up for the stress of before. Hot food was well cooked and good portion sizes.
We left having eaten and tried to say goodbye to our greeter, but she was head down in her iPad again.
All in all it was good food but the taste slightly spoiled by poor customer experience and very...
Read moreNever normally take the time to do reviews but my experience of discrimination at this branch was really awful. I have multiple invisible disabilities that cause chronic pain and often have to ask for a booth seat (which is usually very kindly accommodated as I understand that’s not always easy to do so when there’s only two guests) and my last visit was no different and my boyfriend and I asked for a booth as I was in a lot of pain and when we politely asked we were refused before we had a chance to explain - and when my boyfriend elaborated on the reasoning our server threw our menus on the table then stormed off telling us to “sit down”. I thought nothing of it as I assumed she was busy but then the experience got worse as multiple guests came in, were seated and served before us. We asked a really kind member of staff for help who was unfortunately busy with a Deliveroo order, which is completely understandable but she went and reminded our server which was really kind of her. Our server then loudly complained, with the intention of us hearing as they were staring directly at us, saying “they took a booth at an inconvenient time - they can wait I don’t care” and also proceeded to call me lazy. This really upset me and made me so uncomfortable I had to leave and reduced me to tears. It’s really difficult to pluck up the courage sometimes to ask for accommodation for me accessibility needs and this experience really made me feel awful. Please be considerate that not all disabilities are visible - we ask for help because we have no option but to, not because we’re feeling “lazy”. I’m so...
