I had this on my list of places to visit after parking in the carpark at Mayflower East, behind the restaurant and smelling the amazing smells as I walked past. Whilst in town and undecided but wanting a different light lunch we decided to pop in and it was a great choice.
We were greeted and offered complimentary lentil soup. This was delicious. Not least helped by the fact that we were being given something for free , post covid! I could scarcely believe it. I knew it was a middle eastern establishment and so I had thought that the hospitality might be good , but it was still a welcome surprise.
On to looking at the menu and everything looked pretty reasonably priced and the staff too were very attentive and helpful when we had some questions about different ingredients, portion sizes and recommendations. We both decided on a wrap each with some chips to share. It was really lovely, fresh food and generous portions.
Once we finished I had seen that they had Turkish tea on and some baclava. We were pretty full but it seemed like a nice end to lunch. So we just had a tea and a piece each. The baclava was of course super fresh and lovely again. I had asked about the baclava with the tea and once our tea had come and we had our little bits each, another member of staff was going to plate us up some too, that we hadn't spoken to. So it seems like that may have come with the tea or complimentary perhaps? I didn't ask and based on the prices on the menu, and when the final bill came, I was not worried if it was or not.
A really nice and different lunch. I will definitely be thinking of Rwandz again when I want a bite in town. A lot of businesses could learn from this place...
Read moreThis has become my favourite middle-eastern (Kurdish) restaurant in Plymouth! It's now a weekly go-to for us. The food is amazing. It's set in a casual authentic café style so you don't need to dress up - it's perfect for it's primary intent - serving good food. The service is excellent and the staff are all incredibly friendly, guiding you on any foods you don't know. And the food... Wow. You are given (without asking) a bowl of lentil soup as soon as you sit down (sprinkle some Sumac on it for an incredible flavour experience). Then we've settled on the mixed shish kebab with biryani rice. It's a lot of food and comes with fresh, crisp salad and garnish. You also get an unleavened sesame seed bread which is absolutely amazing 😍. For a drink, try the authentic Aryan - it's homemade and sooo good here. The price is good value for the food you get: ~£33 for 2...
Read moreFirst visit today. I will definitely be returning. I was served hot lentil soup when I sat down. This is complementary, and really tasty. I then had lamb Schwarma and salad with a bowl of some of the best tabbouleh I've ever had!!! This all came with two large hot fluffy flat breads. I had a diet coke with the meal and it all came to £15.50. What a delicious bargin. See you...
