Not often l write negative reviews, but our exoriencd yesterday was outrageous. I took 2 friends in to treat them, at counter we ordered 3 mushroom & mozzarella toasties, what turned up were 3 cheese & tomato paninies. Okay, mistakes happen. So, we went back to counter where what l believe was the manager was serving, the aggression we were met with was quite alarming. She told us we got what we ordered. I told her to check the receipt, which we'd not been given to be met with a shouty 'if you didn't request a receipt you don't get one!' Then started saying in future make sure we actually make sure we order correctly- er no, it had been written it down INCORRECTLY by her! No apology whatsoever. So back at our table we assumed correct order was coming but the paninies stayed on table until we spoke to young lad, asked for manager, only to find this awful woman stomping across to us, again no apology, just aggression. Paninies cleared away and toasties brought by young lad who DID apologise but was not of his doing. So by now drinks had been drunk, no offer of apology or free placement drinks to have with CORRECT order. It was a terrible experience, no apology nothing, just accusation of not getting our initial order correct (big difference between what we ordered and what they sent to table) and terrible customer service by the manager. Never encountered anything like it before, yes people have bad days, but it wasn't even that busy. Definitely...

*Sept 2024

I went in today after a while of not visiting. I had seen their new Autumn range advertised and seen they had started doing a pecan pie. I love pecan so thought I'd give it a try. It was delicious of course.

I was unsure what to make of the filling at first as I couldn't make out what it was made of but whatever it is, it's very nice. It's almost like a caramel type thing with a load of pecan flavour and pecans on top. Perfect now the weather is cooking down. Especially with a lovely coffee. Very cosy feeling.

Coffee#1 is a really friendly cosy place to grab a nice drink and a delicious bite.

It has been a favourite of mine for a while now. The selection of cakes get changed regularly and are always amazing. The coffee is lovely and the staff are always friendly.

Inside it has a warm and cosy feel with locally inspired vintage style decor. They usually decorate for different holidays as well so it feels appropriately seasonal and welcoming whenever you go in.

There is even a selection of books and comics at the back. I feel like these are more for decoration than anything. But I've found myself browsing a couple of comic annuals when I've time to burn.

I would recommend this place. It's a nice alternative to some of the more cookie cutter commercial chain...

Great open plan shop good customer service and they allow your dog in even when the "Dog Area" has been occupied by someone that drinks nothing eats nothing but brings his extension lead in with him and plugs in his computer printer and then rubs salt in the wound and Plugs his phone in to charge Up as well. I know its a difficult job for the staff to address but I needed a seat and somewhere to eat my lunch, I sat at his table and started to place my food and drink on the table and he started to complain I informed him I was having lunch at this table and if he did not like it he could move out. He said " I have been using this table LONG before YOU had arrived" and so it should be me that should move. It was amazing to see how fast he could pick up his computer, printer and phone when my coffee was accidentally knocked over the table. The staff where great they cleaned up the spillage and replaced my coffee free of charge and then escorted the student out of the coffee shop with his electronics stuffed under his arms. I had my fresh coffee and lunch and he guide dog with me that day was not hurt in...

Popped in to Cornwall Street, Plymouth Coffee #1 for a coffee with my wife, some padded seats near the window were empty so I said that’s where we’ll sit while she went to get the coffee. Not particularly busy but moved some cups and plates from the table to another table which already had some used crockery etc left on the table. Looking around almost all of the padded seats were in a bad state of repair and well overdue a visit to the upholsterers or being renewed. Not really a good place to relax and enjoy an expensive coffee, it’s well past the time that some money is invested to make it a better place for the customers. The WiFi is seldom usable, and with no O2 mobile coverage there, using the loyalty app is very hit and miss, this time another miss.

This is a branch of the small countrywide chain. It is a fairly big cafe with plenty of seating. Especially good in the hotter weather is that they have comfy seats next to the windows but the glass pane pulls back thus leaving you in the fresh air. There is outdoor seating too but when you sit inside by the window, you get the same temperature with no fear of rain! Service was friendly & my latte was very good. I had a fruit scone & butter. No catering butter packs here though, I had a very generous serving of butter in a side pot. Had to mark the food down slightly though as my scone was quite dry. The other cakes & biscuits all looked very nice. They also serve a selection of savoury rolls and sandwiches. NB Well behaved dogs are welcome inside.
