I recently had the pleasure of dining at Marmion House in Southsea, Portsmouth, and let me tell you, it was an exceptional experience. A group of eight of us settled comfortably in the back, enjoying the warm atmosphere and attentive service that was always there when needed but never intrusive.
Our knowledgeable waitress, with a friendly demeanour, guided us through the menu, pointing out the satisfying portions of the small plates. Following her advice, I started with a delightful cheese soufflé, setting the tone for a lovely meal. For the main event, I couldn't resist the allure of the Friday and Saturday special, featuring a heavenly seafood and crayfish risotto topped with a perfectly panfried sea-bass fillet. To cap off this fantastic lunch, I indulged in a decadent chocolate bar with raspberries for dessert – a sweet conclusion to a symphony of flavours.
What impressed me most was the efficiency of the kitchen – each dish, cooked from scratch, arrived promptly at our table, showcasing both quality and quick service for all eight of us.
The restaurant's ambiance added to the overall experience, creating an intimate setting for our gathering. Marmion House struck the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort.
In conclusion, Marmion House gets my highest recommendation. As someone in their 40s, I appreciated the refined yet relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a stylish yet laid-back meal out. I'm already looking forward to my next visit for another exceptional dining experience. If you're in Southsea and seeking a taste of culinary excellence paired with superb service, Marmion House is the...

Some of the small places are 3 pieces so you may have to fight for your favourite if there is two of you! Something you should change with the price. Would not mind paying more.
We had the following dishes, ranked below.
Souffle (to die for order 2 and dont share) Lamb parcels (excellent) Pork belly (partner didn't like the bubble and squeak = more for me ) Chicken tikka ( Very slightly dry to be honest. If they were bigger pieces it would be better and serve with mint yogurt instead) A side of chips 🍟
Sorry no pictures as left my phone in the hotel:(
You must give this a try!!!!! and we will be back next time we are in Southsea.
Bill was £70 with four drinks! Such a good price as well for...
Read moreAdvertised as 'a dining experience' easily indicates the level of food and service this restaurant offers. Food, service, charming restaurant, ambiance, atmosphere all combine to make The Marmion House a real winner. It's a complete package you would be foolish not to visit. Decent restaurants are scarce in Southsea.
We have eaten here twice in 5 days. Our first visit experiencing cocktails and wine, exceptional tapas, the most delicious chicken risotto. Our second visit on Sunday, for roast sirloin of beef and loin of pork with accompanying wine. Amazing !
I'm a mature lady and a pretty reasonable cook and I cannot fault anything here, because the delicious foods, ambience, service and atmosphere I mentioned earlier do really combine to make this restaurant a complete food experience.
Our thanks to all at the Marmion House. Look forward to seeing you...
