I'm not a regular visitor to Starbucks. My experience was a mixture of good products but average service. The product menus for beverages are a mix of English and Italian (I think), I've never understood why an outlet in the UK would follow an international corporate directive regarding languages on menus rather than a bespoke, country specific delivery; it doesn't offer a cosmopolitan sophistication but a confusing menu that leads to an unnecessary round of questions at the point of sale causing longer queues and slower service. Whilst the products are pleasant they're overpriced in a comparative local market. The attempt to offer a personalised service by asking for your name only works if the sales assistant then uses it rather than calling out the product name when delivering it at the counter. The staff here are pleasant, but make assumptions for the customer regarding choices of ingredients, falling back on one standard rather than offering the full availability for the customer to make an informed choice to suit their requirements. In my case it was having to challenge if the only choice for my cappuccino was skimmed milk. The environment is pleasant, well spaced tables and an area of soft seating is available. Overall, quite a nice experience but overpriced, there are a number of outlets nearby that offer competitive products at...
Read moreWent to this Starbucks Friday 20/12/24 and I was really upset by how the manager (middle aged man in a black fleece - I didn't get his name) was speaking to the staff members. He was speaking to one girl in particular, Chloe, with particular venom. Telling her that 'she didn't need to bang the coffee on the side that hard, it wasn't a bloody hammer' and despite this, she continued to serve customers with a smile, and even wished me a good rest of my day when she handed me my coffee. The coffee, service and staff were fab as usual, but I'm afraid this treatment of staff completely ruined my mood and experience. I understand pre-christmas is a stressful time for retail and hospitality but I'm afraid this doesn't excuse belittling your...
Read moreReally nice friendly coffee shop...staff lovely. Kate the manager is pretty special. She is always cheerful, helpful, compassionate and even if under pressure, you always get a personal greeting. Actually, all the staff are really friendly and well trained. All comes from strong leadership from Kate. Like that if a drink isn't perfect or not to ones liking, it is instantly replaced. Also like collecting rewards and every 15 getting a free drink. Brilliant. In here so often think I should get shares in the place. Only gripe would be that a couple of the tables opposite the bar are in a pretty poor state and need replacing. Costa Coffee on Commercial Road should come here and see how a business should be run. They could...
