Cakes are lovely with usually one or two vegan options. However, ordering off the main menu is always a huge disappointment if you don't eat animal products. There are no vegan meals on the menu, which seems a bit crazy these days. And when you ask if they can make you something vegan the staff are completely lacking in knowledge ( a couple of times now I have asked what they can make that is vegan and then they insist on offering me things that obviously have milk in them. It is only when I ask them to check with the chef that they understand it is not vegan). As there are no vegan options they simply take off away the things in the meal that are not vegan, don't replace them with anything and charge you the same price. The result for me has been very bland meals that are way too pricey for what they are, that leave me hungry afterwards because they contain no protein. The last time I went I was served one dry mushroom on toast and that was it. How hard would it be for them to get some vegan sausages in stock? I go there because my team at work like it, but as the only non meat eater, I really dislike it there and won't be going again until they sort their menu out and get a chef who knows how to...
Read moreAVOID IF YOU HAVE A YOUNG FAMILY - Terrible Service, the woman at the front gate who was seating customers today needs to quit. Terrible customer service skills, we turned up with four very young children and five adults and were point blank refused entry we believe due to our party size and they claimed to not have any seats for us. When we infact pointed out about the entire seating area behind her that was empty and didnt appear to be reserved, she rolled her eyes and was still reluctant to let us in, stating they would also be turning people behind us in the line away. She eventually agreed to let us sit down in the out doors area but was very off toward us and indeed she did not block anyone after us from seating, only they were all offered warmer seating inside. I guess our faces didnt fit for some reason. After reading the menu with a poor choice of options in my opinion and a brief discussion about the poor level of service, we walked out as we felt this establishment was not worth spending any money with. If you are looking for somewhere to take your young family AVOID THIS PLACE, may I recommend Cafe Fresco just round the corner which was much more welcoming and we did in the end have a...

Despite the frontage not being massively apparent from the road, The Tenth Hole is well worth a stop. The cakes are amazing ... I had two. I nearly had three when I saw the chocolate fudge cake arriving at the table next to mine. They make a mean hot chocolate too.
The service is great - it all looks very organised and there were enough staff to keep things moving nicely given the volume of customers. They’re all dead friendly, too, with particular mention to the young lady behind the till who understood exactly why I was taking photos of the cake counters. Speaking of which, it’s a sign that someone’s doing something right when a café that’s outside of a town centre in school term time is looking 75% occupied at the tail end of a Thursday afternoon.
The savoury food looked great, but I’m going to have to save that for another day...
Um ... why are you still reading this? Just go, get some cake at The Tenth...
