A Smash Hit of Flavor at Messy Chef!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Messy Chef, and I must say, it was a burger experience like no other. Located in the heart of Portsmouth, this place has mastered the art of the smash burger, and I left with taste buds dancing.

The star of the show was undoubtedly their smash burger. The perfectly seasoned patty was pressed to perfection, resulting in a mouthwatering crispy exterior and juicy interior. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with the cheese melting into the meat, and the toppings adding just the right amount of crunch and freshness.

The menu offers a variety of burger options to cater to different preferences. The Messy Chef signature sauce is a must-try – it added a delightful tangy kick to my burger.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with friendly staff who were passionate about their craft. It's clear that they take their burgers seriously, and it shows in every bite.

If you're a burger enthusiast like me, do yourself a favor and make your way to Messy Chef. It's a burger haven that delivers on both taste and quality. I can't wait to go back and explore more of their delicious offerings. Messy Chef gets a solid 5...

We ordered at 7:35pm and we did not even get our full order and walked out at 8:15. When our order was taken we were told 15-20 mins, in no way were we told that things would be separate, we all ordered together and still, 3 items had come out and and 2 out of 4 drinks. The messy fries were cold and stale, when the smash tacos came out, the single portion looked like it had been left under the hot plate for 20 mins as the cheese had turned from melted to solid and the meat looked incredible dry, the taco was stone cold and the smash burger was hardly warm, the 3 piece taco that came was similar except it was slightly warmer, at this point it had been 45 minutes, the table of 2 before us had their food 20/25 mins ago as I had asked the gent and I had seen multiple delivery orders leave so to suggest the takeout order were priority over our eat in order. Not only was the food incredibly late but we had no update or even an apology for the lateness from the owner, instead the owner tried to bill us for for the tacos which was dry, cold and very late, 2 drinks missing out of 4, I refused to pay for food that was cold and the service and reply was terrible. I will never be going...

Ordered food came over an hour later. Had to call restaurant who blamed the driver being late who then I called and driver said food not ready when he went to collect. Finally when it came half my order was missing. Restaurant kept cancelling my call so kept ringing and they kept cancelling my call. What a Disgraceful way to treat customers Missing food and no refund And NO this is not a fake review at all!!!! I have been a customer since they opened. Update to the order, the restaurant called back and apologised for missing half my order to which he admitted they ran out of the desert I had chosen so was willing to offer me another to which I said yes that's fine. We'll, still waiting for him to come round with it, nobody here yet Rubbish And to top that all off, i had to call the owner to find out about when my missing food was coming, i was met with a hell of alot of abuse and shouty words from him only to find out he "didnt care" for my order as id left a 1 star review. Safe to say my food never turned up.oh well What a load of waste of...

This probably would have been a 3, but being charged 80p each for a portion of super cheap mayo and ketchup stings. If you want a premium product, use a good condiment. As for the product, I'm guessing the chef lost his seasoning. Pattie was flavourless, the burger was rescued by the pickles, which is daft, and the sauce was ok. Overall, pretty disappointing. Miles off a decent burger in London (and sadly, miles off even some pubs nowadays). The tools are all there, and with refinement it could be good to be fair. Parmesan and truffle fries again just lacking some seasoning. They were also served, as a side, a good 5 minutes before my main. As I was the only person in the restaurant, I'd expect better. Shame as I've been looking forward to this. Still can't get over 80p for cheap condiments. Jeez. Bad.

Found this place online which had great reviews so thought I'd give it ago. It was a quiet Wednesday evening and the place was quiet. The guy serving was also cooking the food so he was back and forth but really friendly and happy to see me. I ordered the classic messy burger and it was honestly one of the best smashed burgers I've had, and I've had a few. The bun was toasted perfectly and the 2 smashed patties were cooked just right and melted in the mouth. The chips were so good, lots of Cajun session but not overpowering with the right flavour to match the burger. Service was amazing and the guy behind the counter did a great job. I paid £16 which is pretty expensive but I guess that's to do with the location. It's worth it for good quality halal food.
