One might say that, as a Greek, I could be biased — but I believe in giving credit where it’s due. My wife actually discovered this place and made the booking for us. When we arrived, I realized it was a fairly new establishment. The building itself is recently constructed, which complements the restaurant's contemporary, urban aesthetic. It’s located on the ground floor/half-basement level, adding to its modern vibe.
When the weather allows, there’s also outdoor seating — perfect for enjoying a glass of tsipouro, a few meze, and mentally transporting yourself to the Mediterranean.
Now, on to the specifics. We sat indoors and ended up spending quite a bit of time there together. We ordered about 6–7 small plates, and every single one of them was exceptional — full of flavor and beautifully presented.
This is far from your typical, old-school Greek restaurant. It offers a proper glimpse into what modern Greek cuisine has evolved into over the past 15 years. The menu isn’t overloaded with endless choices — and that's a good thing. Instead of trying to do everything moderately well, they focus on a concise, curated selection of dishes executed with quality and care.
Some standouts: the Kallos version of dakos was absolutely lovely, the slow-cooked lamb flatbread was heavenly, and my personal favorite was the wild mushrooms with smoked cheese. The restaurant also offers Portuguese-style seafood tins, which we tried and thoroughly enjoyed. The overall concept is unique — I haven't come across anything quite like it in Manchester, and I’ve been dining around here for the past eight years.
As for drinks: there's an elevated wine list, which my wife really appreciated. I went the traditional route with a couple of tsipouro glasses. They also offer Mediterranean- and Greek-inspired cocktails, which are now on our list to try next time.
On desserts — while we enjoyed the baklava with ice cream, I believe a couple of additional options could elevate the experience even further. A classic portokalopita would be a fantastic addition, as would a pistachio-based dessert, which would tie in beautifully with the rest of the menu’s Mediterranean notes.
Needless to say, the staff were attentive and happy to answer questions — always present, but never intrusive.
We’ll definitely be...
Read moreAfter discovering Kallos on a date night with my girlfriend a little while back, we left absolutely buzzing from the experience – amazing food, relaxed atmosphere, and the kind of staff who genuinely seem to enjoy being there. So when it came time to plan a family meal, we knew exactly where we wanted to go.
This time, we came with high expectations—and somehow, they were massively exceeded.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the same warmth and friendliness that won us over on our first visit. The staff strike that perfect balance between being attentive and relaxed, never rushing us, always ready with a recommendation or a genuine smile.
With more of us at the table, we had the perfect excuse to order much more from the menu—and I’m so glad we did. Every single dish we tried was outstanding. You can tell that the kitchen takes real pride in what they serve: bold flavours, fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented plates that feel generous without being over the top.
Standouts? Too many to name, honestly—but the feta with filo pastry and honey was a table favourite, and the Baklava was just perfect to finish. There wasn’t a single weak link on the menu at all.
The best part? Seeing my family fall in love with the place just like we did. You know you’ve found something special when it impresses across the board.
It’s rare to find a place that gets it all right, twice in a row, with two very different kinds of evenings. But this spot nailed it. Safe to say it’s become a firm favourite, and I can’t wait for the next...
Read moreLet’s go Kallos. It’s a new-ish joint and they wear it well. The space is industrial with some light touches of Greek/Mediterranean vibes - with a double height ceiling - it’s an uncluttered and airy space to dine in. We arrived and were warmly welcomed. The menu was easy to grasp - a mix of Meze and larger dishes. Most of all the server was engaged and explained everything to us - including a very good knowledge of the Greek wines. Pause for a moment and consider how good these wines are - perhaps the cradle of wine production and worth looking into more closely. Spoiler alert - there’s a whole section of tinned seafood served with the most delicious homemade pittas. Get over yourself and try some. We kicked off with a Greek beer (mythos) served on a frosted glass - perfect. The wine selection was absolutely on point too. Then the food. I don’t know the Greek for ‘ooh la la’ but there we are. Fava bean dip - stunning. The lamb served on a pitta followed by slow braised beef cheek. It was so tasty I wanted to order another one! But I battled on until I reached the orange cake dessert accompanied by the sweet wine. And a coffee. Probably the best meal I’ve eaten in a long time. Having spoken with the chef, I knew we were in a place that valued detail, focus and taste. Thanks to the whole crew!
Here are the tiny points - perhaps fix the soundtrack to create more...
