We dined here for my partner’s birthday and from beginning to end Browns Glasgow delivered in spades, from the friendly greeting and the lovely attentive service we enjoyed a delicious lunch which was a feast and was absolutely superb.
Jill, our waiting member of staff, was a joy she was so friendly knowledgeable and such a delight she is an absolute credit to Browns and we can’t commend her enough. Jill is so super friendly it’s always nice when someone goes the extra mile to make your dining experience so special and memorable, we look forward to going back for Jill alone she was so lovely and nice.
Now, onto the starters we enjoyed the BBQ chicken skewers which were so delicious they were cooked to perfection and were amongst the tastiest of skewers I’ve ever had.
Main course was difficult to choose from as it’s quite an extensive menu and we were so glad we settled on the Brown’s Burger which was noting other than sensational. Of course, we ordered a side of onion rings and again these did not disappoint they were made on the premises and were light fluffy and so tasty. The chef and kitchen team should be commended for creating a burger which is amongst the best if not the best I’ve ever tasted and I’m counting numerous restaurants and hotels in New York so that is praise enough. Super tasty the burger patty was so flavorsome and was cooked to perfection. I couldn’t fault anything service exceptional food excellent piping hot and so tasty. Not to mention the delicious wine we had a Chardonnay and again it went down very well indeed.
We could not recommend Browns Glasgow highly enough and this is one restaurant that we will include as one of our must go places in the future it was so good. Whether as a treat or a special celebration Browns has got the ambience and has a really nice vibe, combined with an excellent location you feel transported away to an idyllic chilled and relaxed slice of paradise.
Keep up the good work look forward to visiting...
Read moreAn Evening Reviewed: First Impressions After a challenging week, Browns in George Square offered an inviting refuge. The restaurant’s contemporary décor, paired with a neo soul soundtrack, created a lively ambiance. The staff greeted guests warmly, contributing to the overall sense of welcome. Despite the positive initial vibe, the pace of service fell short of expectations. Even with the restaurant only moderately occupied, waiting 25 minutes for starters set an unfortunate precedent. Starters: Lukewarm Beginnings When starters finally arrived, anticipation waned. The mozzarella was served lukewarm, and the scallops with chorizo were overwhelmed by a heavy-handed sauce, causing the delicate flavours to be lost. Main Courses: Delays and Disappointment The main courses appeared sporadically, with some plates delayed by up to 40 minutes and sides arriving even later. The sirloin steak, requested well done, was diminutive, laden with fat, and lacked depth of flavour. The sides—fries topped with dry Persian cheese and oily vegetables—failed to enhance the meal, feeling perfunctory and uninspired. Desserts: Hopes Dashed Desserts, often a meal’s saving grace, continued the trend of disappointment. The sticky toffee pudding proved excessively dry, while the apple & berry crumble carried an unpleasant burnt undertone, leaving the meal on a sour note. Final Reflections With a final bill exceeding three hundred pounds, the experience felt unjustifiably expensive given the quality of fare and sluggish service. Browns excels in atmosphere, cocktails, and the genuine hospitality of its staff, yet the inflated prices and mediocre dining leave it a destination more suited for ambience than culinary...
Read moreI went to Browns with my Partner for Christmas Eve dinner (which is kind important for us because of the culture factor) and we took Festive 🎄 3 courses menu 🍽️ with drinks 🍹
First we place the order for drinks and we went with Negroni (which was sadly out of stock) so as alternative replacement was recommendation (from very professional and super kind 'Romanian' waiter) to try Old Fashioned cocktail instead. Which was not really close to Negroni but for Scottish Whiskey Experience fine enough 😊 Cask - Belheaven - local beer was really good 👍
For Starter I took Smoked Salmon (again Scottish 🏴🫶) with Horseradish Crème Fraiche, capers and toasted ciabatta. Which was a fair introduction to the Main dish.
Braised blade of beef 🍖with mashed, quite sophisticated selection of veg and black garlic sauce was very tasty and meat was incredibly tender
And for the dessert I get classical Christmas Pudding 🍮with Brandy butter which was alright but a bit to dry.
Of some reason we didn't get our Finish what supposed to be Cheese 🧀 Selection 🤷
Generally quite pleasant dinner we had but we both agree that portions have been a bit to small and there wasn't much to be surprised of the textures or ingredients. For £38 without a drink it was still one of the cheapest Festive Menus option in central Glasgow but we guess it was a slightly disappointing. In TOTAL we have paid almost £125 and that's a lot in our opinion.
No matter what it was pretty nice evening after all (with a bit of thrill 💣 when we received by mistake not our bill for £260😅) So we had a...
