A well priced bar, with great seating (although at peak times it gets very busy) that does excellent bar food. I'm going to talk about some of the negatives, but I can't emphasize enough that they are small enough (for me) to still highly recommend this bar.
Okay, negatives:
No disabled access (that I'm aware of) and even with help, you're going down some 30-odd steps. For those who aren't in need of help, the stairs aren't an issue (until your 6 pints in).
Toilets are an absolute catastrophe. The women's is typically just out of order, requiring a massive labyrinthine adventure to get to the staff's toilet. The men's, whilst typically available, is flooded, doors don't work, the single stall is out of order etc. I'd not bring all this up normally, issues with facilities come and go no matter where you go, but it's chronic at Drury. I've been going for a couple of years, never once has there not been some issue. This is likely an issue of clientele rather than not caring by management, but something should be done as it's not a pleasant experience in an otherwise great bar.
Speaker placement sucks, blasting certain seats with music (which the staff control and will often skip, so don't overcommit to that rendition of your guilty pleasure) so loudly you can't hear your own thoughts. This is kind of a minor thing, and I personally have hearing issues which exacerbate it, so your mileage may vary. It's also common in bars so what're you gonna do?
I know that's a huge screed, but don't let word count stop you from enjoying what is otherwise a great bar. I recommend the bacon cheese fries, they're fantastic, you won't be...
Read moreWas very disappointed with the bar. The staff were so understaffed, they had 3 staff for a whole bar on a friday night, this is not enough. This was causing the staff to be very stressed, rude and passive aggresive toward our group. With a £300 bar tab that we spent, we asked to pay part in cash and split the bill to be told they are not able to do this with an eye roll and walked away. Service was extremely slow with the female waitress attending other tables 3-4 times before approaching our table as she couldnt be bothered taking our larger drinks order. We would have easily spent double however was very annoyed at the way the staff treated us. it was very very unprofessional.
The only thing good about the night was the food was very tasty and of good quality shame about the subpar front of house staff that ruined...
Read moreWas here for a social event, big mistake in the choice of venue. It was so loud! We couldn't hear ourselves talking from all the loud music
In addition, the venue has no signal, being underground. This makes sense. But what doesn't make sense is the lack of WiFi. The venue has no WiFi according to the staff when I asked them for the password. Which is really bad
But the reason I was asking them is because there clearly IS a passworded WiFi network, with the venue's name on it. So perhaps the staff just lied to my face, which would be even worse
The Loud music and atmosphere here would make sense for a dance club. But this place has tables everywhere, it serves things, you are clearly meant to sit and eat and drink and talk to people. I can't imagine doing those things with...
