I should preface this by saying we went on the opening night so our expectations were adjusted accordingly, but you do expect there at least to be an attempt to make a good impression, perhaps with some more experienced staff doing the rounds to make sure things are running smoothly. Unfortunately the service was poor and unprofessional. We had a booking but the staff not in Innis and Gunn t-shirts, who appeared to be more senior/managers, were all standing beside the bar talking and ignored us when we arrived. One of the bar staff had to ask them to seat us, which they did but only after finishing their conversation first. Other staff were totally out of their depth/lacked training and there were too few of them, but that’s not their fault and they at least seemed to be trying their best. Waitress brought the menus then forgot about us for some time. Every time our food came out we saw it go halfway round the venue then over to the bar and handed to a manager as no-one knew where to take it. Manager offered side plates for starters which never arrived. The food was okay but very overpriced for the quality and portion size. Chicken burger and chips quite good but chicken schnitzel main was a starter portion at best and very greasy. Made do as it was on the 50% off food opening deal and we were in a hurry at this point due to the slow service but at full price it would have been sent back. This place is really going to have to step...

I initially left a critical review because of problems with the food not being warm across three out of the four courses that we got during their Scottish Versus night a couple of months ago.

However, staff took our complaints seriously and we subsequently received a refund plus free tickets for a future event. That is excellent customer service and made it clear to me that the manager, Alex, is very keen that his customers have the best experience.

So we went back last night for the Italian Versus event and they had clearly fixed whatever the original problem was. Food was terrific (my wife said it was the best osso buco she’s ever had!), piping hot and served quickly by the table staff.

At an event like this where everyone is getting the same dishes at the same time, it means the staff are run off their feet but they did a great job. And our table never became cluttered, as the staff were always efficient at clearing away empty glasses and plates. Definitely the best waiting staff I’ve come across, always smiling and friendly no matter how busy it got.

I’m delighted with how they reacted to our original complaint and how they’ve shown that they can put on a terrific night of food and drink.

I’m already looking forward to the next event in...

We booked for the steak frites offer on a Wednesday evening. We arrived a bit early and got a couple of pints. The place was quite quiet. When I went up for our next round we were still early for our booking but I asked the staff anyway and was told our reserved table was ready. A very nice staff member showed us over and talked us through the deal then offered to put our food order through so that as soon as the offer kicked in at 6pm our food would start coming out. Snacks came before 6 and were excellent, along with a sample (1/3 pint) of the very tasty original beer which had lovely whisky notes. When the steaks came they were excellent and with generous serving of peppercorn sauce included. The staff serving the sauce couldn't have been nicer offering to come back if we needed more. The garlic butter and parmesan chips are tremendous. We quickly finished our first lot then took them up on the offer of a second steak. Both were cooked pink and perfect for my liking. I have recommended this deal to others and will continue to promote it. Please bring this to the West end branch. Excellent food, staff service and by the time we were done the place was jumping so...

Stumbled across this place purely by chance. Seems to have opened with little fanfare. All in all a great place to enjoy a few beers and the have a terrific selection of draught beer available. Similar to Brewdog in many ways in terms of style. Have my favourite ale (Ossian) on tap. Need to try the food next time. Knocking one star off for one reason. No customer wifi and there is zero mobile reception on O2 inside. I like to buy a few beers and mess around on my phone. Unless you get close enough to the wall to piggyback on the WiFi at Las Iguanas next door, you're out of luck. BACK HERE TONIGHT 28 JAN 23: Still an amazing place to drop in for a pint or two, still didn't Tey the food but remain disappointed that they don't even offer a basic WiFi to their customers. Made wise by the fact that there is no mobile reception in the building. They really need to work on that if they hope to compete with bars nearby. I moved on. If I could have used my phone while in there solo, I would have stayed a unloaded more of my wages than I should have.

We really enjoyed it here, came for steak frites for £20. A 1/3 of a pint of Original, a chef's starter, ours was veg pakora, a steak & one refill steak, unlimited fries & peppercorn sauce. I had the mushroom option which is slightly cheaper but I didn't like the sauce that came with it, I put peppercorn sauce on the second lot. The frites were devine. Really enjoyed your Mango IPA. The vegetable pakora starter would have been better with pakora sauce. Those that got steak said it was cooked to perfection. Nice staff. The toilet is down a lot of stairs so if you have mobility issues like me do yourself a favour & use the disabled loo.
