Detailed review ๐ ๐๏ธ
I have tried a handful of burgers all over the UK. I must say, my first dining experience at this restaurant was quite memorable. Until I changed my mind.
We went on a busy Thursday afternoon. The staff were welcoming. We ordered Sunshine on beef, Truffle Shuffle, barbeque chicken and tater totes. All of them tasted splendid.
Dwelling a bit deeper onto the taste, the burgers were appetizing and the smell made us more hungry. I still vividly remember my first bite. It was juicy, with a wide range of flavours getting released. When I went for my second bite, I could feel the subtle use of buttermilk used in the chicken. It was so fat heavy (I mean in a good way) that it cherished our meat digesting gut bacteria! I even rejoiced in the taste of the light burnt bun as well. What a flavour! I knew this got to be one of my best burger eating experiences. I definitely didn't expect that in Glasgow. The bbq chciken was alright, but the mayonnaise sauce elevated its flavour. Tater totes is a must try if you like to give your mouth a small break from chewing the massive burger bites.
On the contrary, my second experience turned out to be beyond disappointing. I was so pumped up to visit this restaurant, given its terrific first impression. I was rooting for the restaurant so much that perhaps the regression effects of my taste experience were more harsh than I had expected. The second time I ordered the same food, there weren't any salt. It tasted like a plain simple burger, with none of the nuances that I mentioned before. It didn't have the same magic it did before. I wouldn't have complained if the 'Wow' factor alone was missing. This time it was below average. Felt like the efforts that went into making was missing.
I shared my disappointment with the staff. I hope they took that feedback in a positive way.
Feels bad when you can't leave a 5 star for a restaurant that made your taste buds resonate in a...
ย ย ย Read moreToday I came on my brothers birthday with my 2 brother, my mum and dad. When I came in someone got us a table in about 1 minute as she had to move two tables together so it could fit 5 like what always happens when all of us go to restaurants because weโre an odd number of people, after we got seated we ordered our drinks and the drinks came quite quickly which makes sense as we all just orded soft drinks. Probably 5-10 minutes afterwards, we ordered our food which took about 10 minutes to come out. I got an extra which was kimchi fries and they were absolutely beautiful and were as spicy as I expected, my dad got the Angry Bird which I took a picture of too late and it was already half eaten but it was spicy with good kick, my mum got a Reuben Sandwich, the meat was tender and tasty and a great sandwich, my brother (the birthday boy) got an Ayia Napa burger, the bacon was crispy, it was saucyand the halloumi was also crispy, my other brother who is older than my other brother had the New York Dog and it looked fantastic and lived up to it being a gourmet hot dog. We also got a salad which was spicy but very good. My dads espresso went down a treat with the little Lotus biscoff accompanying it. My brothers milkshake looked amazing and it was a great size. The atmosphere was comfortable and industrial which made it really feel cozy and comfortable and it was just a very nice environment. Overall the food was delightful and there was a great atmosphere. Nothing wrong...
ย ย ย Read moreService was poor and inattentive, and the food was amazingly poor. ยฃ50 for 2 people, burgers and a side and drink each, is shockingly poor value.
Times between ordering drinks/food were quite long too (10+ mins for 2 mocktails, north of 20 mins for the food), and when we ordered water for the table we were given one single glass of water which further highlights the lack of attention paid by the staff.
Food came and the best bits were the sides (coleslaw was tasty, the garlic parmesean fries were okay too). Burgers were small and cooked so that they themselves had no flavour (I'd wager that the words "salt and pepper" were whispered in the general vicinity of the grill on which the burgers were cooking), the flavour being entrusted to the sauce.
The atmosphere, just like the food, is on the verge of iredeemable. Table was tiny, seated between two tables of 4, we felt like sardines packed into a tin-can. As well as this, the lighting makes everything feel dingy as well.
This is the first restaurant I've ever been to where the overall experience looks SO much better on paper, but it was incredibly disappointing. Never before has the experience been SO poor that I've had to ask for the staff gratuity to be removed from the bill, as it was not earned by any measurable metric. Won't be coming back here on any future visits to Glasgow, there's significantly better burger venues in...
