I do not often take the time to write a review. But if there’s even one person reconsidering eating here based on this review I see it as a win.
(Ambiance: 1 out of 5) when entering the restaurant they did not accept walk-ins, and did not get offered an offer to come back at a later time. Online we did see we could make a reservation, so we did, and after coming back the restaurant was completely empty. They kept refusing people as walk-ins, but we were literally almost the only ones there. Also, they already started cleaning the whole restaurant, even the ceiling and windows, quite weird.
(Service: 1 out of 5) As stated above, we were not accepted at first. After coming in with a reservation the waitress seemed to be annoyed of our presence. For the rest of our stay at the restaurant, we were not looked at. And when we decided to leave after 1 dish (read food quality below) they did not care to say goodbye to us.
(Food quality: 2 out of 5) Coming to a running sushi, we did not expect too much with regards to quality. But still they managed to disappoint. Food was expensive, choice very limited, and the sushi rice was literally the worst we ever had. Only pro was that the fish was ok. Not very tasteful (watery taste), but at least it tasted relatively fresh. PLEASE NOTE: To sushi lovers & foodies, avoid this place at all costs.
(Concept: 1 out of 5) Even though you cannot per se expect the best quality for the concept of running sushi, we usually like the concept. However, apparently they now only use the conveyer belts to deliver your food that you order through the “yo sushi” web application. The app does not work well, and it creates even more distance between the waiters and people eating in (you literally have to “order” help). And somehow they manage to ask an additional service fee for every order you make. Yes, you can choose not to pay it but with the unfriendly user interface we still managed to pay it twice.
In sum: Money doesn’t grow on trees unfortunately, and we only have so many nights to spend in our short lives. Spend your money and time wisely, and avoid this place...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience. I came in expecting decent service and to enjoy the Monday promotions that were clearly advertised — instead, I left feeling frustrated, misled, and honestly disrespected as a customer.
From the moment we walked in, things were off. The only server working told us that the pricing was based on the “color” of the plate — but made no mention at all of the Monday promotion, which offers a $9.95 for three dishes. I only found out about it when I asked the chef directly after he brought the food to our table. Even he was confused and untrained, telling me that “everything in the menu is available” — which turned out to be completely false. Later, I was told by the server that only certain items count toward the $9.95 promotion, but this was never explained up front. It felt like we had to chase down basic information at every step.
On top of that, there’s also a Kids Eat Free Monday deal — which again, the server never mentioned, even though I was clearly dining with a child. It feels like they’re trying to hide the promotions instead of honoring them.
To make things worse, when it came time to check the bill, that only server casually said, “Oh, I don’t know if the free kids’ promotion applies if you’re using the $9.95 three plate promotion.” Seriously? This was never mentioned at the beginning. If there are restrictions or exclusions, they should be made very clear from the start — not tossed in at the end when it’s time to pay.
Service was just plain bad. I had to ask twice just to get a glass of water. The attitude was careless and inattentive. If you expect anything beyond McDonald’s-level service, this place will disappoint you.
As for the food — it was fine. Just decent. Nothing memorable. Honestly, if it weren’t for the promotions, I wouldn’t have even considered dining here.
Bottom line: Poor communication, misleading information, untrained staff, and underwhelming food. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless they completely overhaul their service and treat customers with more respect and...
Read moreWe really love Yo! in Glasgow.
As it happens, I do not like sushi but my husband does. The great thing about Yo! is that there is a huge range of wonderful non sushi offerings so it makes for a great place for both of us.
We both quite often have the spicy seafood soup. A year or so ago they changed this, upped the price but also increased the amount of fish in it and it is now a really amazing choice. It is spicy - be warned - but delicious with salmon, prawns and a bit of squid. it comes with noodles but you can take these out and have rice on the side (or in the soup)
My husband usually has the salmon or tuna sashimi, of both if hungry or without the soup.
Having said that I do not like sushi I have become a huge fan of their aburi salmon - which is a thin slice of salmon on sushi rice which has been lightly blow torched. I look for the ones where the blow torch has lingered and it seems to be cooked enough for me and I love it.
Other great non sushi options are the Korean fried chicken, beef teriyaki, chicken katsu. The prawn katsu and popcorn shrimp are also good.
Really good is that if you have a Cineworld privilege card you get 25% off so this makes for a great prices meal as well.
One minor aside, I would avoid the one in Braehead shopping centre. We use to go there but their manager is incredibly rude and it is just not worth it (pity because the staff were nice). Stick with the central Glasgow one where everyone is...
