Ordered chicken tikka biriyani via deliveroo. Being a regular customer, got to experience different types of tikka biriyani on each order and phoned the store to complaint. But always the answer will be “ this is the first complaint regarding tikka biriyani for the day and this is how it is” !!! I was feeling so bad that I came to a point where in no point in talking to them hence said “sorry to say not gonna order again from this restaurant” . The lady who attended the call happily said “ thank you no problem” . This is a note for the customers who are seeing my review : if by any chance you got to have good food from there and plan to come back again, its better to ask for the same chef’s next working day so that we can have the food with the same taste!!!!! Dishearted with the service and the stories they cook up is pathetic!!! Anyways thanks for the wonderful response that you gave me via phone. I hope you won’t need my order number !!! Since i cannot give a reply to shiva’s response posting the reply here: Hi Shiva, both of us know that this is the second time that we are talking about this same tikka biriyani AKA pulao rice issue and this is the same reply that I’m getting for the second time!!!!! Reply to your 2nd reply:
Hi Shiva, thanks for replying. You’re right — I did ask for less meat and more rice in some of my earlier orders, and your team did accommodate that, which I genuinely appreciated. But let’s be honest — that’s not what this review is really about anymore.
The issue here is simple: the same dish has tasted completely different each time I’ve ordered it. Chicken tikka biryani shouldn’t feel like a gamble. Sometimes it’s rich and flavourful, and other times it’s so bland or off-balance that it feels like a completely different recipe. That’s not a preference problem — that’s a consistency issue.
What made it worse was how feedback was handled. Both times I called, I was told I was “the first person to complain today,” which honestly just felt like a way to brush it off and move on. I wasn’t rude on the call — my tone was full of hopelessness, because I already knew there was no point. If you’ve got access to the recordings, feel free to check them — they’ll show exactly that.
And when I said I wouldn’t be ordering again, the response was simply “thank you, no problem.” That tells me everything about how much customer loyalty is valued. There was no attempt to ask what went wrong or try to keep a regular customer — just a quick goodbye.
As for your comment on my review being misleading — particularly the part where I said “ask for the same chef” — let me be clear. That line wasn’t written to insult anyone. It was written out of pure frustration after receiving wildly different versions of the same dish. If a restaurant is confident in its processes, that sentence shouldn’t rattle anyone. But if food quality genuinely depends on who’s cooking that day, that’s something you might want to look into — not defend.
And honestly, if the idea of getting food from a chef who “wasn’t having a good day” or “is new” means a drop in quality, does that mean I should be paying less on those days? Is this how restaurants are supposed to work — roll the dice on flavour and hope you land the “right chef”? That’s not a customer’s responsibility to manage — that’s yours.
This review isn’t meant to damage your business — it’s just the truth of my experience. I supported your place consistently before. But at some point, the inconsistency, the way feedback was handled, and the indifference during the call made it clear that continuing to order wasn’t worth it anymore.
I genuinely wish you and your team the best, but I’ll be ordering elsewhere from now on. Hopefully this helps others looking for a bit of consistency in what...
Read moreAfter hearing a lot of good things about the place, this was my first visit to Taste of Chennai for family lunch. The service was good, starters came early and main course understandably took a little bit.
Ambiance was good and for someone hailing from Chennai I kinda felt like at home with the Tamil film songs playing in the background.
FOOD: (We were hungry so didn't have the patience to click pics of each dish)
Dragon Chicken - Typical Indo-chinese style dish, it was tangy and flavourful.
Fish Sukka - Was very good, fried fish added to chukka masala. Felt more like a Tawa version of Fish Polichadhu.
Prawn Pepper Fry - This one wasn't there in their menu, I requested if they can make a Prawn version of their Chicken Pepper Fry and they obliged. It was very good, just lacked a little salt.
Chicken Dum Biryani - Disappointed. I asked the waitress if the Biryani is of the Chennai style biryani and she said it is Chennai style indeed. But this isn't Chennai biryani at all and I'm sure their Chef would agree with me.
Parotta & Chicken Pepper Curry - The ultimate dish we had on our table. It was so epic, I loved every bite of it. Felt like having Parotta and curry in a good Kerala restaurant in India.
Chicken Chilli Parrotta - Again a typical Indo-chinese dish, taste was on point just felt the oil was a bit too much.
Kids Dosa - The classic Plain Dosa with Sambar and Coconut Chutney, it was very good.
We also had Mango Lassi and Rose Milk, the former was too good while the latter was passable.
Overall, we definitely enjoyed our experience in Taste of Chennai, will be back soon to try other items...
Read moreInitially, this establishment stood out as the premier South Indian restaurant in Glasgow, renowned for its exceptional hygiene, polite service, and fresh cuisine. Although occasionally a tad oily, it was otherwise excellent.
Regrettably, over time, there has been a noticeable decline in standards. Presently, servers deliver dishes with spilled gravy using their bare hands, tables have tissues underneath to balance, floors are not clean, and glasses sometimes carry lipstick stains.
Furthermore, the use of hydrogenated vegetable oil (dalda), which has faced bans due to its unhealthy saturated fat content, has been a cause for concern. While it enhances flavor, it can lead to stomach discomfort after dining here.
Additionally, most ingredients are now sourced frozen. If the front-of-house lacks cleanliness, it raises questions about the conditions in the kitchen. Despite raising these issues with the staff, we received only excuses. We used to recommend this place to friends, but now we advise against it until improvements are made.
Both we and our acquaintances have experienced illnesses after dining here, including one who required hospitalization due to food poisoning (stomach flu). If you've encountered similar problems, please share your experience to help others make informed decisions.
For those who continue to have positive experiences here, we wish you the best of luck.
Kudos to the management on running a positive...
