I usually only post five star reviews - you can check! I love to come on and boast about the amazing places who are worth shouting about - but this is my 2nd two star review in the past week and I'm honestly so sad about it!! We get to go on two date nights a year - Valentine's and our anniversary and so because they are so rare I do a lot of research to make sure they are going to be worth it! I read rave reviews on this place and saw lots of great videos on TikToK Tok, my husband was born in South Africa and I have South African parents so we were excited for this! The whole night was a shambles šŸ™ˆ When we arrived at 7pm we were seated at the table closest to the front door and it was FREEZING, I had to keep my coat on the whole night as did the people sitting on the tables beside us so not the best start. We got our drinks ordered, I will say my Carnival Colada - a Mango Pina Colada was delish! but both of the straws were too short for our drinks meaning you couldn't drink the last third of the glass which was a bit odd (note to restaurant: order longer straws asap!!) Then they told us when they took our order the food wouldn't be longer than 15 mins...which I thought was odd, why would you tell someone that? I don't expect my food to come out that quick and of course it didn't, it came out an hour later so a pretty pointless message to convey! The wait staff had no clue what was going on, they were bringing out meal after meal with no idea what table it was going to, they tried to put a giant sharing platter down on the table next to us and the couple told them that wasn't what they ordered, they made the couple go get the menus back from the welcome station to point out that they definitely didn't order that, then they tried to offer it to us, we said we didn't order it. Then to the table to the left of us, they said it wasn't their's and eventually they wandered off into the upper part of the restaurant and I can only imagine the food would have been lukewarm at best by the time they even found the recipient! We got our food before the couple beside us (who had ordered before us) we looked at them with an eye roll and just said they are not having the best night. They tried to go and tell a lady dining on her own near us that it was time for her to leave as there were other tables waiting (she hadn't even started on her mains!). There were hoards of people at the front desk waiting for their reservations (but clearly their food service was longer than they anticipated and so the table turn around was not quick enough to cope with this) When they did eventually bring our food there was no cutlery on our table - the waiter said I will bring you some, then off he went to talk to the angry mob at the front desk, next thing he was bringing out a birthday cake from the back kitchen and it was clear he had no intention of bringing us any cutlery! So I headed up to the bar to find him and said can we have our cutlery please and he said didn't you get any with your starter? I said no we didn't have a starter. He said wasn't there any on your table when you sat down? I said no! You just saw there wasn't any on our table 🤣 (you guys, I was losing the will to live at this point!!) So he says just take a seat and I'll bring it over, I said no no I'll wait here for it (because I had no faith I was ever going to see that cutlery again if I walked off!) so eventually he washed and dried some cutlery for me and handed it over. Then as if that wasn't bad enough, my sweet toothed self asked to see the dessert menu from one waitress, then another waitress came to ask what we wanted and as I started to ask her about one of the desserts she replies 'oh sorry, as you can see we are far too busy and not able to offer desserts tonight'!!!! My jaw dropped! I said even for the people who made a reservation and are already sat down dining with you?! She said yes sorry! I have never had this happen in a restaurant ever 🤣 we paid the bill, left and will...

We booked for a table for 5pm due to having a show to see at 7.30pm. Giving us plenty of time. Arrived and table wasn't ready, which was fine. The host was lovely and welcoming however she looked like she was rushed off her feet. Not only was she foor host but she was clearing tables, taking orders and generally running around manic. She sat us down and we had to ask for menus, again rushed. We ordered drinks and food at same time. Food was out within 10min and still no drinks. My partner was served his food and it was swiftly taken away by the server saying he wasn't happy, we have no idea why and another 5min it arrived... Still no drinks. Now the food was delicious!! So flavoursome and presented beautifully. The good does have a spice and therefore we had to chase a server for our drinks. We finished our meal by 5.40. We asked for dessert menu and another 2 drinks considering how long the first ones took, we ordered these when the first ones arrived. Second drinks arrived around 6.40pm and we asked for the bill. By 7pm, we left with our plates not cleared away (we asked twice), dessert order not taken and no bill. The decor is stunning and beautiful however the atmosphere is ruined by the energy of the team running around and not looking after guests. We had to go up to the bar to get the bill as again we asked 3 times and nothing. £65 later, I couldn't believe we only had a main, sides and 2 drinks. We didn't complain as the good was lovely and to be honest the girl on the door was so nice but was doing too many jobs. We won't return as it wasn't pleasant. While we sat, I booked Mowglis for the following day as I wanted a better experience and I know we get it from there as its one of our favourite...

Came here with high expectations and excited to try this restaurant on our date night. To begin with, the service was slow, and we received the wrong food a total of three times. It then came to the stage where I was sitting with my dinner in front of me, which was also cold and incorrect, as my chicken was spiced incorrectly. My partner had not a single dish in front of him.

Once his food came, his order was incorrect yet again, with his chicken also being spiced incorrectly and being given the wrong side. We ate half of our meal, as we couldn't even eat the whole thing due to the sheer fact it was spiced wrong and cold. We sat with our plates in front of us for at least 30 minutes, and my partner then had to get up and clean the table for us and hand the plates to the servers, as they didn't even do their job.

At the end of the meal, we asked for the bill and were charged incorrectly. The server said she would be right back with our bill, but we then sat for an additional 15 minutes while she started walking around the restaurant with plates, etc. Throughout this visit, we witnessed multiple tables being given the wrong orders. Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We were then chased out the door by a senior member of staff who apologized and said he noticed we were disappointed, but he hopes to see us next time. No discount or anything for what seemed like an episode feature on "You've Been...

This place is super cool! The food was really yummy I got the Salmon Cure and the salmon was cooked really well and the sauce was really good. I also got the can’t remember the name of my drink Island something it had lychee and mango but it was very sweet and mojito like which paired well with my meal. I think the mac and cheese could have been a bit creamier but it was nice and cheesy. The music was just loud enough and the birthday celebrations around us were super cute! The staff were really nice like Kinza, they didn’t come and bother us but she made sure the food was satisfactory and we were happy. I think the price is super worth it, i went in really hungry and left really full. We even had to bring leftovers! I tried some of my families food too and it was sooooo good! Wait time was about 20 mins for food which I think is pretty good. There are some steps to the bathroom so idk about wheelchair accessibility but I dont know because nobody in my group uses one but also there was a ramp up to tables and it didn’t look steep. Speaking of the bathroom it was clean and spacious. Defos recommend Afrikana for the fun vibes, friendly staff, and delicious food!

We had the pleasure of dining at Afrikana recently, and I must say, it was an absolutely stellar experience from start to finish! The restaurant's ambiance is top-notch, boasting a super stylish decor that effortlessly blends modern elegance with traditional charm. Now, let's talk about the food – divine doesn't even begin to describe it! Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavour and expertly crafted to perfection. From the tantalising appetisers to the decadent desserts, every bite was a true delight for the senses. But what truly sets Afrikana apart is its exceptional staff. Cameron and Kunbi went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Their warm hospitality, attention to detail, and extensive knowledge of the menu truly enhanced our visit. Overall, I cannot recommend Afrikana enough. Whether you're craving authentic African cuisine with a twist or simply looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this restaurant has it all. Five stars all around – we'll definitely be returning soon!
