Me and my boyfriend are both restaurant managers, so we understand that things can go wrong, we are more annoyed with how it was dealt with.

First of all, our bottle of white wine was warm when it arrived. Not too big a deal, we just added some ice, however this did mean our first glass was quite watered down as the ice melted. Our first tapas to arrive was the prawns, both me and my boyfriend were shocked when they were put in front of us as they were blue/grey and clearly undercooked. We asked the waitress to have them cooked more and she took them away. When they came back she quickly placed them on the table and basically ran away. They still didn’t look quite the right colour and the texture just wasn’t right and it was quite off putting.

The other tapas arrived and were fine for the most part. The steak was very fatty and chewy. We had ordered the patatas bravas and were waiting a while for them to arrive. Then the table next to us, who had ordered at least 10 minutes after us, received 2 big bowls of them, which annoyed us a bit. Just as we were about to tell them not to bother a small ramekin of them arrived. I don’t know if the table next to us ordered double portions, and if so then fair enough, but there was a very obvious size difference in what we received. We had already eaten all of our other tapas, and had been finished them all for well over 10 minutes by the time our patatas bravas arrived, and didn’t want to just eat potatoes, we had wanted to enjoy them with everything else. I understand how the restaurant works with things coming out as they are ready, but if we had even got them at the same time as the table beside us we could have had them with some of our other dishes. Since we were annoyed by this point we didn’t even touch them. After they were taken away we got the bill and seen that we had still been charged for them. We were so disappointed and fed up at this point that we just payed and left, but honestly I believe they should have been taken off of our bill. It was quite obvious we weren’t happy and we weren’t checked back on once, we would have expected them to have asked if the prawns were better the second time, and if everything else had been okay, but no one came near us the whole time and almost seemed to be avoiding coming over. I don’t like to complain but this was just such a...

What's Spanish for yum? This is it.

Absolutely fantastic tapas, and at a reasonable price to boot! Every dish was fresh and fragrant, a real pleasure.

Bread, pil and salad, 9/10, such a simple starter but the oil was lovely and peppery, the bread served warm and super satisfying.

Sea bass, 9/10, nice fresh fish with beautiful crispy skin. Can't remember exactly what the sauce underneath was like, I've put up writing this review too long, but needless to say it's a warm fuzzy memory now.

Pork and apple sauce, 10/10, pork and apple is a classic combo, but I can't understate how good this little dish was, genuinely surprisingly good. the pork was melt in the mouth tender and the apple sauce was at at the perfect balance of sweet and tart, so so good.

Dhal, 8/10, can't remember too much about this dish, I remember it being very good but not exceptional.

Patatas Bravas, 9/10, wonder rendition of the tapas classic, potatoes were the right breed for the job, creamy and smooth not dry and fluffy, cooked to perfection and the sauce was excellent.

Chocolate semi-fredo, 7/10, unfortunately a low point, and the only thing that was disappointing - mind you, that's merely because the bar was set so high by the rest of the meal! The dish didn't pack enough flavour and was a bit too icy making the texture less pleasant. Still, it wasn't bad by any stretch.

Overall a wonderful dinner and we certainly hope to...

I’ve been staying in Dundee for a short period of time and Selkie was the place I went for both lunch and dinner. I literally went there almost every other day. I’ve explored and made an attempt to try different places but no other places could beat Selkie. Staffs are kind, patient and efficient. The decor is cosy and inviting with a very lively atmosphere. There are various options for lunch like sandwiches, soup and salads and interesting selection of Tapas. The first thing you notice is the freshness of ingredients which bursts in your mouth. The seasoning is perfectly balanced and the layer of taste is not one dimensional. I particularly enjoyed the rich mushroom soup, their homemade savoury bread, sumptuous Gambas in garlic, flavoursome sea bass in pesto.. etc... oh..it’s very hard to just pick one. I believe that it’s run by a family and you can feel and taste their passion for food and that they CARE! I can’t wait to come back to Dundee again as it was one of my highlight...

I accidentally found The Selkie's Facebook page a while ago. I'd never heard of it before. We've decided to give it a go for today's lunch. What a fantastic place! A small, family-run cafe with a cosy atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. They have very extensive menus. We had 2 Ciabatta sandwiches - philly cheesesteak and chicken & chorizo. Both delicious. They came with crisps and salad. The coffee is also very good and they have milk alternatives like almond and soya. The place was very busy and we were lucky to get a table. All I can say is support local! This place is amazing and we'll definitely be back.

I had Tapas dinner here on a Saturday evening recently and the food was amazing. 5 of us had the chef’s choice of 6 dishes: from the bread to the prawns, the patatas bravas, steak strips to my utter favourite…the black pudding & chorizo - it was all 5 star ⭐️ The only failure was that we were tucking in so quickly we didn’t take enough photos! It was really filling, we did manage to squeeze in a slice of gorgeous cake to share at the end, and we also enjoyed the Prosecco & white wine too. Great to see the place so busy - we weren’t rushed out and the staff were super helpful. Very well worth a visit!
