Being just yards away from the Southport railway station, The Monument is a handy 1st stop for thirsty travellers. Its a sizable pub but very comfortable. Service is good & staff are friendly, as are the locals & visitors who drink there. I visit this venue most times I visit Southport & enjoy 2 pints & a chat with locals before taking a cab on to a friends house. This is a sizeable pub, conveniently located near to the central shopping area in Southport. It has with a fair selection of lagers and real ales. I had a pint of black sheep bitter which was excellent. I have only eaten there on one occasion but was impressed by the quality of the fish and chips, the fish was perfectly cooked with a crispy batter.
