Patronising staff, serving short measures? trying to be something it's not

First visit to this fairly new bar, visited with a mixture of friends/business clients and have seen similar styled bars in many large cities, unfortunately Kuckoo must have employed staff with no people skills whatsoever, every single one of the staff we spoke to was so pretentious and involved with their own self importance it was embarrassing, If you are going to have bar staff who free pour the spirits you better make sure they know how to pour a measure, having asked for 3 gin and tonics i watched the bar man free pour a shameful amount into the glass, at this point i asked him to stop before he put the tonic in and pour it back into a 25ml measure cap, he point black told me he wasnt going to and he knew more about pouring drinks than i will ever know lol (he was about 22 and im 50), he also told me he knows EXACTLY how to pour 25ml, he put the tonic in and i paid, one of the guest with me commented the drink didnt taste right, at this point i asked for the manager and was told to go to the bar if i wanted to speak with him, the manager then started a conversation with me whilst still serving others at the bar and not making any eye contact with me which was very unprofessional, thats not the worst part, he then handed me a glass with tap water in it and quite cockily told me to show him how much i was given (this was at a busy bar with everyone looking), i gave him the measure and he checked it with his his 25ml cap, suprise suprise it was about 3/4 full and a short measure, no appology he just said ill give you another one if thats how you feel (as if i was some low life chancer that was doing me a favour), i told him i didnt want another drink just make sure you dont serve other people short measures, one word to the manager i spoke to IF I PAID FOR 25ml I EXPECT 25ml TRADING STANDARDS MAY TAKE AN INTEREST IN WHAT YOUR DOING, Worst thing is, if the bar man and manager had not been so arrogant and rude i could have liked the place and returned every weekend, unfortunately thats the first...

Partner touched a chandelier, so he got kicked out (I wish I was joking, they said it was worth 20k). I went outside to see what was happening and the bouncer said that he was going to slap my partner. I said that was aggressive and got grabbed and pushed to the side. Started recording because of the aggression from staff and was told that I wasn't getting in to just grab my belongings because I was "being aggressive" after being pushed aside and shoved around by aggressive men because I was recording. The bouncers mentioned several times that they had an issue with me recording and that was aggressive behaviour. The bouncers clearly have issues with women and I ended up not being allowed to grab my coat because I recorded them after they threatened to slap me and grabbed me for simply being outside with someone who touched a chandelier (again, wish I was joking but the way they escalated the situation was ridiculous). If you have any concerns about having to record men in power for being aggressive towards you as a woman don't go here, they will consider you aggressive for simply recording their bad behaviour and trying to protect yourself after they threaten to slap you and then grab and push you. I have footage of staff being aggressive and am glad that the CCTV records audio as it will show the bouncers being verbally aggressive from the off before grabbing...

Hands down THE best Bottomless Brunch I’ve been to at Kuckoo in Sheffield, since the good old days of Oracle Leeds. This Rock & Roll cocktail bar, based at Leopold Square in Sheffield, is great for a late night drink and a dance. Winner of 2024 Best late night Operator in the UK! Now they open on Saturday afternoons for their Bottomless Brunch event (bookings only), and it’s one of the best!!!

My friend and I managed to get a last minute booking onto this bottomless, which was new back in February, for my birthday, and I am so glad they fit us in as we had a great time.

On Saturdays 3-5pm at Kuckoo, based at Leopold Square in Sheffield City Centre, enjoy countless cocktails (my friend and I had 3 each on our table within the first 15 minutes), plus all drinks menu available. When we were shown to our table, there were Proseccos, shots and a snack laid out for us – a lovely touch! We had countless cocktails and Proseccos that day. The staff clearly love this event too as they make it an amazing, lively atmosphere as you enjoy your drinks, lots of pizza, singing and dancing along to the best tunes and some activities too.
