I felt compelled to share this review given a recent visit on Sunday 30th August (bank holiday weekend).

Having visited Pitcher on quite a few occasions previously I tried in advance to book for a party of seven of us (all men). Given it was bank holiday weekend and that I’d only made contact around a week prior I wasn’t surprised in the slightest that they couldn’t accommodate the booking. Absolutely fair enough.

I was however told to try on the evening as there may be cancellations, so after we had finished an amazing time at Kettle Black we decided to give Pitcher a try and got taxis into the city centre.

I wish we hadn’t bothered, whoever the lady and I use the term very loosely was running the door that evening ought to go on a customer service course and be reminded that she works within something referred to as the service industry. After letting our group in initially we were asked to leave in a most abrupt way, we asked for an explanation as there appeared to be an abundance of room and none of us at this point had too much to drink. No rational reason was forthcoming and the more we requested a reasonable explanation the more flustered and aggressive she became. Had we reacted in the same manner then the bouncers would have been involved. She handled herself embarrassingly to say the least.

Given the current predicament that we all find ourselves in I would have thought they would be happy to have the money from what our group would have spent in there, the main issue from what I can gather is that we were a group of men and nothing more. I do hope that Pitcher can survive Covid as our previous trips have been enjoyable, of course I appreciate that there are protocols to be followed in terms of social distancing but the place wasn’t exactly heaving.

We won’t be ruling out a return visit in future but if the “lady” in question reads this review then I would suggest you learn to handle yourself with a little something called class in the future, or maybe attend Kettle Black for an example of how staff treat a group of well turned out, professional Men with money in there pocket looking to do nothing more than have an enjoyable evening in welcoming surroundings.
