Argyle on tour. Needed a real ale after getting thumped by Wednesday!! This place is cool. Took a bit of time to find it. It has bags of character, is well frequented and a cracking ambiance. No frills....just a good choice of beers and snacks. Happy staff buzzing around. Most of the walls are covered in beer mats and paraphernalia of all things pubby....just created a word...haha....It does live music but tonight there was a private do upstairs...

Our first visit there last night. Everything you want from a good traditional pub. Very welcoming informative staff. Wide choice of ales, beers and whisky's. Full of character with lots of nice rooms/areas in the pub and a lovely beer garden. Live entertainment events upstairs. We didn't have food so will give stars for food on another visit. We'll definitely go again

Friendly old-school pub, with a great selection of ales on tap. Ales regularly change and include a good mix of pale, bitter, stouts and craft etc. Apparently 80 whiskies available too. Atmospheric decor of old brewery pump clips and memorabilia. Toilets were clean. There's an outside courtyard. Sausage rolls/pork pies and crisps available.

If you're looking for a delightful evening at the Shakespeare Pub in Sheffield, let me regale you with a tale of what you might encounter: Adam, the bartender. From the moment we crossed the threshold, Adam's demeanor was a curious blend of disdain and annoyance, like a tragic Shakespearean character who took a wrong turn and ended up behind the bar.

Ordering drinks felt like a scene from a comedy of errors. Adam's huffing and puffing could have blown down a house of cards. His attitude was so sour that lemons would blush in his presence. But the real climax came after we paid—Adam, with the subtlety of a Shakespearean villain, turned to his colleague and dubbed us a "horrible group of people." Ah, the eloquence!

Adding to the charm, Adam seems to have a deep, emotional attachment to one particular shirt. Every time we've visited, it's the same shirt, as if he's starring in a one-man show where the costume budget was slashed.

To the management: Adam's customer service skills could use a rewrite. If working behind a bar doesn't bring him joy, perhaps he should exit stage left and find a role more suited to his temperament. Until then, I suggest potential patrons avoid this pub unless they're keen on experiencing their own...

I’m not one to give bad reviews, if you check my profile anyways, but this really rubbed me the wrong way. I went here about a week ago and my partner order a coconut rum and coke. I got given a rum and coke instead, took a sip and realised it was the wrong stuff so my boyfriend went back up to the bar for it to be fixed. In a really rude tone, a guy around our age 20-21 said that that’s what we ordered so that’s what we got and refused to change it. No one ever orders just a rum and coke, there’s literally so many times. Okay fair enough. My boyfriend goes BACK to the bar and orders a coconut rum and coke, I was behind him, so I heard it. and whoever served him repeated back ā€œrum and coke?ā€ No. He repeated back saying ā€œcoconut rumā€ and eventually got the right drink. The second interaction clearly proves that the staff simply...

Traditional Sheffield pub where the beer's the star; indeed the blackboard menu reads like a fancy wine list, complete with tasting notes. One of their USPs is the sheer number of different ales they have offered since they (re-)opened in 2011 (a figure mind-boggingly up in the thousands); there are half a dozen or more hand pulled ales always available, with another half dozen or so lying in wait. The welcome is always warm, the bar person knowledgeable and interesting to talk to - and they sell excellent value filled rolls (cheese and pickle/ ham and mustard) at lunchtimes. Definitely worth a detour. Provided someone else is...
