I was looking forward to trying this place and can say the first visit will be the last. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our first drink to arrive after being plonked on the worst table and just forgotten about. Other customers came in, were served there food and drinks whilst we waited. If I didn’t go in and physically ask for our drinks; heaven knows how much longer it would have taken. We were then told our starters would be 5 minutes late (scallops, flash in the pan?) we waited 25 minutes for that. We are now talking an hour and half into the sitting and to make it just that extra bit frustrating, the scallops were freezing! We were offered 2 drinks on the house and were made to feel this was a huge offering as a way of an apology for our wait. The mains were drenched in sauce to the point it was impossible to lift the pasta off the plate and cheers for the 3 prawns in my prawn linguine. I don’t blame the poor college students you have as a chefs that look overwhelmed for that though. The side of chips was the best thing about the food.
Overall, it’s an absolute no. I still can’t comprehend that my partner paid the full bill not wanting to make a fuss. It’s not the cheapest so we were expecting some sort of quality. For me this is a place of pure facade with no substance to what it claims to offer. Lack of care for customers or is it care for the ones you WANT to make the effort for? God knows.
My advice would be to wait a few weeks getting a table down the road at Domo where the service and the food is outstanding and if there is a mistake or a delay, the staff are genuinely apologetic and ensure there is no further issues at the table. You’ll also be paying the same prices! I hope Isabella’s takes this review on board and works on it. It really wasn’t good enough at all.
All that said, it’s decorated beautifully. It’s clean and IF managed properly, could give others some competition but unfortunately from what I experienced against what I expected, this isn’t on the same level as other restaurants cafe/bars on...
Read moreThe most horrendous service we have ever experienced!! We came in to Isabella’s for a quick bite to eat before going out round Kellham, me and my husband have never eaten or drank here but the venue was beautiful so we went in to try it out. I was and honestly still am appalled at the dire service of this place. Especially when charging the prices they do! Bar staff rude and unhelpful. Chef decided after we ordered drinks we were not allowed to dine there because they had a big table upstairs, this is after being told by bar staff we could have some food. All we were ordering was 2 pizzas. Eventually the chef “allowed us” to order just 2 pizzas because in his words “it was quick but there would be nothing else” Staff did no check backs whilst we were eating and didn’t bother to ask us if we needed any condiments when rudely slamming our plates down in front of us. We are in the hospitality industry ourselves and would not write a complaint unless absolutely necessary. We both left shocked at the treatment we had received from every staff member who served us. The kicker is this is a gorgeous restaurant, with lovely decor, a nice menu and the pizzas were decent but the service let’s this place...
Read moreWe visited on Sunday 19th May for my daughter's 23rd birthday and took advantage of the glorious weather by sitting outside. We were quickly attended to by a friendly member of staff who knew we'd booked for a special occasion and offered my daughter a complimentary cocktail! The excellent service continued throughout by this gentleman (sorry I can't remember his name) and the food served was absolutely delicious and excellent value for money. We even had an extra scallop because we shared the starter between the four of us, which was a lovely gesture. The portions are very generous (don't be fooled by my photo's - the plates are very large) and the bread twirls that accompany the bread and olive sharer are to die for!
Thank you for making my daughter feel special and for our group photo complete with fir...
