Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent

Particularly stroppy and rude staff today. We ordered what we normally do and then we are told at the point of service that we couldn't have the large tea that we had asked for. Apparently they "don't do large teas" even though we've had them at this and other Costas regularly. Forced to take a regular tea because of the cost of the extra hot water and slightly larger cup, how pathetic. The regular tea was only 2/3 full! After finding a cake that they actually had in stock we parked up and going that it was hard and stale, obviously very old. This wasn't the first time that the cake had been stale but because of the queue I hadn't taken it back before. On this occasion I was already annoyed by the attitude of the so called barista and so I walked to the 'collection only' entry where I found a large queue. Having already queued once I decided to go back to the window. Another car's driver kindly let me return the stale cake which was thrown stroppily into the bin when I asked for one that want hard and stale. The assistant fetched another one which was fresh showing that they knowingly get rid of stale cakes. I was told angrily that I should have gone to the counter but I had no intention of queuing again. You have just lost two regular customers Costa, well done. Get your policy on stale food and drink sizes sorted out and get rid of your stroppy,...

We used to regularly visit this Costa coffee outlet, always sitting in and having both food and drinks here. Sadly not as much anymore as the last few times we have found the place to be dirty and untidy. Todays visit will most likely be our last for some time as the few tables that were unoccupied were cluttered with uncleared dishes and cups and customers were having to clear tables themselves as the staff couldn't be bothered. Combine this with dirty forks, knives and spoons and perhaps you could understand why we no longer feel able to visit this branch. Overall extremely poor. Revisited here today 08 10 2022 and have to say it’s even worse than before. No one at the counter but 4 members off staff talking in the drive through section, a number of flies flying around and actually on the cakes in the counter display. Then 1 member of the 4 staff attending the counter taking orders from multiple customers while previous customers orders were ignored in favour of taking more money. So a tedious and unnecessary wait. Add to that the dirty conditions of the seating area and maybe you can see why we have now decided that this is now the worst Costa Coffee we have ever been in. shocking costa, not only did they get my order wrong, they also got the order wrong for the person in front of me, giving them a small coffee when they ordered a large. seems to be all over the place, even when the store is quiet. majority of tables has dirty plates/cups and we’re yet to be cleaned. they also had sausage rolls available in the app but upon collection they said they had none available. they couldn’t offer me a refund through the store and told me i had to apply for a refund through customer service on the app, as it was an app order. didn’t offer help to do the refund, i had to work that out on the app for around 15 minutes myself. for a store quite quiet at the time, i don’t understand how they can get so much stuff wrong. i understand the pressures of a work environment, but when you’ve only got three families dining in, two already been served, shouldn’t there be more punctuality? as a tourist, i will not be coming to this...
