My review is an example of how easy it is to leave a review without knowing anything about a business without having been there,
"The Marquis of Granby has highlighted the issue on its Facebook page. In a social media response to the review, the venue said: "Our kitchen has been closed since 19 July due to us lacking a chef. We have tried reporting this review to Google with no joy. But why do people feel the need to try to ruin someone's business by giving a highly-detailed lie? Itβs uncalled for.
"To target our staff is very unfair as we have a very friendly and dedicated team working for us who have done so for a long time and myself and Calum are extremely proud of them. Team Marquis all the way - one person's bitterness wonβt dull our shine."
Here is the review from LUCY BROWN:
Lucy Brown 1 review 5 days ago NEW Β£10β20 I ordered food around 4.00 oβclock and food took an hour to come, they brought one plate at a time, messed up on order then when I was almost finished I found a hair in my food-this made me feel sick I went to complain for the second time then the lady came back and said that because she has blonde hair it canβt be hersβ¦.Iβm blonde aswell but there was a hair on my plate under the sauce so defo not mine plus it was a short hair and I have shoulder length hair! I was offered a drink as compensation I disagreed and said Iβm not happy about that I would rather a refund for my plate but I was happy to pay for the rest of the families meals! I had no response at all! I went to the bar and ask but they refused a refund but offered me a free coke because I had nearly finished my mealβ¦.. What a joke! it was only after I was talking to the table next to me who said they had a hair in theirs aswell and surprise surprise that was a short black hair!!! I will never eat at that place again or pay to go there for a drink, 5 Terrible service aswell! Food: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 1/5"
THE RESPONSE FROM OWNER Response from the owner 5 days ago Hello, you have got the wrong Marquis of Granby. We are not currently serving food so we are confused as to why we are receiving this review?
Also we never offer drinks for food complains when we are doing food (if we do get them) we would knock money off or refund the meal
We would appreciate it been taken down as this isnβt our pub you have ate at and this could have a damaging affects on our business :-(
I very much doubt Lucy Brown, if she exists, has ever been there. But the review stays, the business suffers, it's really frustrating.
We have a business dealing in classic cars. its listed on Google... We get reviews from people who we have never heard of, never dealt with, or are complete idiots trying to pressure us into getting what they want... an example.. a lady made an offer of Β£14500 on a car advertised for Β£24850, and stated that we had to accept the offer "by law", and that as we offered a delivery service, she wanted it dropped off 240 miles away and would pay on delivery, as long as it suited her...
What do you do with...
Β Β Β Read moreVisited this pub as had been in area. Did search for pubs near me for somewhere to eat on way home to Cheshire. Reviews were great so thought we would give it a bash, so glad we did! The pub itself is a traditional pub, not a plastic pub with no charm. The staff are welcoming as soon as you enter and very attentive throughout. We were seated and given menus, and asked if we would like drinks, which arrived promptly. It was fairly quiet, people drinking outside in pleasant courtyard, a few tables eating and some tables waiting for food. Our food was ordered, I had the steak and Stilton pie which was huge with home cooked chips and peas, it was delicious π Husband had the chicken schnitzel which was huge and beautifully cooked, melted in your mouth. Food came quickly too. Didnβt really have room for dessert but forced ourselves. Chocolate brownie and sticky toffee pudding, again prompt service and delicious. The thing I find amazing is the price, so cheap, itβs getting so expensive to eat out these days, not here! Great value for money, drinks too, came home with full tummies and plenty of change in our pockets. If this pub wasnβt so far from home I would visit it more often. Hats off to the chef and wonderful team, lovely friendly pub 10/10, definitely...
Β Β Β Read moreMassively disappointed!! We had a turkey roast dinner and a spinach tart roast dinner. First observation was that it's not a large plateful of food and only small to medium in size for a price of Β£14 !!!!! My vegetarian partner was shortchanged as her meal came with no roasties or yorkie pud. When challenged the waitress said the chef cooks them in beef dripping. No alternatives cooked in veggie oil were offered. This is blatantly shortchanging vegetarians and is unacceptable! My partner was still hungry when we got home!
My turkey roast dinner was not great. The turkey "chunks" had gristle in them. How is this possible with turkey?? The overall meal portion was on the small side and the gravy didn't taste great and was gloopy. The overall taste of the meal I would describe as average.
There was no homemade feel to the food in either meal - both just smacked of "industrial" catering. Thankfully we had a 30% off voucher which compensated to a degree for the shortchanging and lack of quality in our meals. The meals were not worth the full price of Β£14 Nobody else was eating a sunday lunch - maybe that tells you all you need to know! Sadly, the food at this pub is NOT...
