Finally managing to post my review after 4 visits in the past year. What can I say? This place is a local gem! All 4 of my visits be it with family or for a work doo have been incredible each and every time. Upon entering you are greeted with an exceptionally well decorated venue with Sombreros handing from the rafters / beams to chrome skulls perched on shelves, this place really has a great vibe!
The staff are very friendly and welcoming taking orders and serving with professionalism. The owner is charming, always smiling and happy to facilitate any requirement you may have. Be it, having minor alterations to dishes on the menu or having something off the menu entirely!
The food and drinks selection is great offering all manner of Mexican classics to stuff that isn't so mainstream. So far I have been able to enjoy many of the dishes, for example the fajitas, the empandas, nachos, mole lamb to name a few and at no point was I ever dissatisfied. All the food was delicious, tasty and had that homely feel to it. Mexican food is hard to come by in the UK so when you find a place that does it, and does it well, it's something to be treasured.
IF you're ever in the area and want good food then look no further. Dorindos has you covered!
Thank you so much to the Dorindos Team, I will certainly be coming again with many more friends, family and...
Read moreNote: The ONLY reason this place is not 5 stars is 50% this place gets VERY busy and thus you must go in on the idea you must be patient so don't be in any kind of rush of a weekend evening, and 50% um... no place is perfect? Guys, go in for those bold, big flavours. Not into spicy food? That's OK, the friendly waitresses and the friendly restaurant owner will guide you if you're worried. They looked after my fussy family very well (including the kids). I'm not into heat, I admit I'm a total wuss. I can inform you they do a darn good steak, fajita and chimichanga without the worry. Into really spicy food? My uncle informs me they hit the spot. I understand this means the spice levels hit Hot-as-the-sun.
I was too full for pudding (I was busy judging all the non-spicy mains) but the rest of my family inform me the churros (chocolate or caramel sauce), the cheesecake, and the ice cream hit the mark.
Go for the food, stay for the jugs of sangria and the cocktails they were my favourite. My uncle (the steak lover) tells me the mocktails are as good as you'll find without going to one of those wierd vegan bars. I don't know what that means but he knew what he meant.
I'd say this is one of the best places in Abingdon, certainly top 3 that...
Read moreWe came last night restaurant empty there was only one other table in there at the time. Starters took ages to come out. Undestably the fair was on so soon realised the chef was busy making food for them to sell outside a priority over the customers in restaurant. Luckily kids food came out with starters. At this point more customers in restaurant. Saw a table who came in after us get there mains and we were still waiting. Another tables asked where there's was and waitress was really ride and said its coming. Eventually after we kept looking round someone came to clear are plates after over 20min wait and asked for children's ice creams and our food. He said it was just coming. Kids got there icecreams and we still hadn't had our main. It then came out and lady took it to another table. Theb to another table and we had to call her over to say it was ours. Food was lovely just poor service last night when there was plenty of staff. Then had a 10% service charge added onto bill which under normal circumstances I wouldn't mind but when the service was that slow I asked for it to be removed.
Hopefully a one off. Starters and main...
