New Union — Restaurant in Wakefield

I Booked their function space for my partner's surprise 30th Birthday party, communication was brilliant and the space was perfect. Recently refurbed and completed to a high standard. Which has brought it up to date, very light, airey and welcoming.

They have a speaker system so we could play music and microphone so we could do a couple of games in the dance/stage area.

All staff extremely accommodating and friendly, really approachable and nothing was ever a problem.

Drinks were spot on cold refreshing and priced well with a nice variety of soft and alcoholic drinks available.

My overall experience was fantastic, it was the perfect venue for my partner's party and I would definitely book for party's and occasions again, I will also definitely be putting it as place to pop in for a drink when I go out.

Well what can I say……….. I went into the new Union looking for food, but they do not serve food anymore, manager was very friendly and greeted me with a smile, excellent customer service skills, since that day I have been in many times on different days and nights, the bar area is always clean and tidy, same as the toilets but the whole pub could do with being updated as it is looking tired, I have seen the manager trying to get customers in through Facebook and other social media outlets, but this can be difficult with the outdated decor and tired looking bar. Admittedly I came during the late afternoon so it was very quiet on a weekday. I've been coming here since it was the slug and lettuce. The service was friendly, helpful and informative even though I had to ask for service. Quite impressed by the stage area which I'm assuming must be quite entertaining when they have events on. I just felt the physical place looked a bit tired and need of a refurb. The lager didn't taste brilliant unfortunately.
