Isabella's — Restaurant in Wales

Me and my wife had a weekend away in South Wales, we were recommended the beach at Porthcawl which is a gorgeous large sandy beach with lifeguard's in attendance. Anyway back to the Restaurant, Isabella's I can whole heartily recommend this restaurant, the fresh food is on display like a butchers/fish mongers the menu board is vast and an excellent choice to get the mouth watering (so hard to make a selection, if only you could rent an extra belly), the staff very friendly and accommodating. we didn't get there till gone 8 o'clock and they manage to fit us in, the surroundings are very quaint...........BUT with out a doubt the best bit about this place is the set Diner menu, I saw sooo many items on the main menu I wanted (money wasn't an issue as we were on holiday) but it was impossible to ignore the set menu especially when it had meals like moules marinières as a starter and rib eye steak in peppercorn sauce as a main and many more for £11.95..incredible and delicious. We had a sweet and coffee as well absolutely fantastic, a walk along the seafront to walk it off rounded the evening.

Isabella’s after all the hype of restaurant of the year in 2018 . I wonder had it been painted since then , atmosphere was that of a seance , better lighting and a sharper edge needed . Service is excellent on both visits staff were on the ball . Food was good , but let down by the prawn started @ £9.50 and two prawns on a plate… That joke was lost on me.

Times have moved on and this place needs better lighting dark inside …

Manager shouting at waitresses while they were serving us , to go to another table … as on our first visit ….oh dear . Don’t believe the hype …

2nd visit 29/07/2022. As for Eton Mess dessert , a crushed meringue, some sickly strawberry syrup and a spoon on cream in a short glass . Was the finishing touch … shame as the lamb was pink … pity the 3 minuscule slices of pepper were adorned by one piece of onion. The picture speaks for itself …. Sadly we Won’t be trying...

Absolutely gobsmacked booked a table for 4 for my hubby's b day on saterday 1st July we got there at 840 as agreed they sat us on are tabe took are drink order then the lianceholder said we were to drunk we sat there guite wasn't rude or nothing .he said that we were to drunk and was rude to the waitress was wasn't as I was not drinking and I rembear what had happened so he said he can't serve us I said can we still eat as we come down in a taxi from Bridgend if we don't drink he said no we was all discusted at this time.we left but we will never go back again and my advice is if u book a table for a special advent don't drink before u eat was bang out of order.and as we were working past we saw a rat out the back by the kitchen so in a way was good as they ov have a proplem with rat's and that''s all I heard since I've told people what had happend as they experience it to with...
