We went here on 21st December and ordered two margherita pizzas, a water and a beer. We waited five minutes or so for the drinks and then ordered the pizzas which took almost half an hour to arrive - we couldn’t understand why as they weren’t very busy. The manager apologised for the wait before they came and when they did arrive we were immediately disappointed as the amount of cheese used was pitiful - it was basically a pizza base with tomato paste for £8 + each.
We could only eat about 1/4 of the meal each and politely mentioned our disappointment to the manager but he was really defensive and said that “three types of cheeses” were used and that the ingredients were “measured out” on the pizza(!?) The small amount of cheese that was on the pizza was browned and he was trying to say there were three types! He offered to replace them but by this point we were made to feel really uncomfortable for their incompetence and we didn’t have time to wait another 30 minutes for two more pizzas when we had to get back home to our little one. What was meant to be an enjoyable evening and our first time out as a couple in ages became a really unenjoyable experience topped off by the fact we were made to feel awkward just because we pointed out these issues.
We could also see they were serving customers Aldi coffee and soft drinks (nothing wrong with Aldi at all but we felt it was a bit misleading) so we just paid and left but it was a complete con to be honest and we felt fleeced out of our hard-earned cash. If you’re thinking of going here our advice would be to please THINK AGAIN and don’t be fooled by the marketing and fancy decor. There is a much better pizza place in Heswall called Paolo’s, where the pizzas are better quality and the manager is pleasant. Please AVOID if you don’t want to...
Read moreGiving this 2 stars as the service was warm and friendly but that's about all. The atmosphere should have felt cosy and warm. We were seated by the window (probably to help attract people in), door and radiator but the radiator wasn't on and it wasn't overly warm and each time the door opened it just felt colder. No candles in the front part of the restaurant which would have helped make it feel more snug.
We ordered garlic bread which was tasty enough. But was looking forward to the delicious pizza promised by most other reviewers. The pizza arrived and looked amazing and we all eagerly tucked in. To start with it was warm not hot. After eating a few slices we all commented it had a strange taste. Looking at the underside of the pizza it had burnt black bits and this was causing the strange, overpowering taste. Any bits that didn't have blackened parts tasted ok but overall it was too blackened which just ruined it.
We didn't bother complaining as we weren't asked if we enjoyed it when the discarded pizza was cleared away. We then asked for a tea and coffee to be told "we don't do coffee"! Seriously what kind of Italian style eatery place doesn't do coffee?
Shocked, we asked for the bill and left. Needless to say we will...
Read moreWhat a lovely spot! We drove past it when we were looking for dinner and had to stop and check it out. The website didn't work and the phone wasn't picking up (and there were no menus on Google at the time!) But we really liked the idea of some authentic pizza as we're sick of the kebab shop styles. With that in mind, I ordered two of those and a couple of drinks. It did take a while but the staff were super friendly and the vibe was lovely! While I waited they offered me an orange juice on the house and they let me have a seat at the lounge. I'm not a local but I'd LOVE to come back when I'm next in the area, which might well be soon! The pizzas themselves were gorgeous, we had them on a beach nearby and they tasted outstanding. My only confusion was that they were never sliced, which would be a no-brainer for a takeaway order, but that's the only gripe. Honestly a fantastic bunch of people, a great meal and in a beautiful location. I tried to take some photos of the menu and of the inside to help other visitors too and I told the staff about the website not working as well. Highly recommend you pop in now that you have a better idea of what...
