I chose Medicine Bakery Saturday breakfast , and honestly, I left disappointed. My boyfriend ordered the bacon sandwich, which turned out to be just two slices of bread with cold, dry bacon inside. The bread itself was tasty, but paying £6 for a dry bacon sandwich with nothing else? If we wanted to eat plain bread, we could have bought a loaf at home for a fraction of the price. I had the avocado toast for £13, and the portion was underwhelming. There was only half an avocado spread on one slice of bread, while the second slice was served plain. For that price, I would expect both slices to be topped. Avocado isn’t that expensive — surely they could’ve used a whole one. I also got a cinnamon bun, which was dry, overly sweet, and didn’t taste fresh. The sugar was so coarse it actually crunched between my teeth — not in a good way. And this was on a Saturday morning, so it’s not like we came late in the day. The matcha latte was delicious, and I want to say a big thank you to the staff — they were warm, helpful, and offered us a complimentary pastry when we shared our concerns. But they didn’t remove the dry bacon sandwich from the bill, which was disappointing. So, great staff and great matcha — but everything else felt overpriced and underwhelming. Won’t be coming back.

I have only been to Medicine a handful of times but I have thoroughly enjoyed it every time! I got the sausage brioche which is a really generous sandwich and the saltiness of the bacon is well complimented by the sweeter pepper jam. The bacon is slightly crispy which is great as everything else is soft - important for people like me who enjoy different textures. The sausage patty is huge as you can see in my picture and the fried egg is served runny! The iced matcha latte was also good - don’t judge me for having it iced 🤣. I don’t like mine too sweet as I still like to taste the matcha so this was great. The Wolverhampton branch is open which means it can get a bit cold but the staff are lovely and really helpful! A really good option if you’re looking for brunch in Wolverhampton.

Honestly I can’t believe we were refused entry, we tried so hard to cooperate and they just really didn’t want to allow us entry for whatever reason, we were a big group that had travelled from Manchester just for this bakery, and because we were a big group they were unable to serve us, I think they were being lazy and didn’t want to do any real work if I am honest I feel sorry for the owners as this would have been a big payday for them. DO NOT go to this bakery if you are in a group of more than 4 people as you will be denied entry, shocking service and staffing is all I can say. We were willing to sit in groups of 4 and still were refused entry, while other groups of 4 were literally being seated in front of us. Shocking, shocking shocking!

Awful AVOID AVOID AVOID-

DO NOT go here

We went to the one in Wolverhampton town centre. Was ‘fully booked’ but empty when we got there. Though I imagine it was fully booked as they have to account 3 hours for each table as the service was so slow!!

Ridiculous little stools on the cobbles, they need to get some decent chairs. Was sliding around on the stool which was hurting my back so we asked if we could move onto one of the many empty tables without stools that would accommodate us. Was told no because there were only 5 of us and the tables with chairs were for larger bookings only, though the bookings that turned up about an hour later and were sat the table also had 5 people.

They asked for our order about 1 minute after we sat down so we asked for a couple more minutes to decide. It took 30 minutes for somebody to come back for our order.

We needed a high chair but the entire place only had ONE which is ridiculous.

All of the drinks were in disposable cups, which is not acceptable for their prices. For something attempting to be modern and relevant the fact they serve all cold drinks in disposable plastic cups is not only cheap but terrible for the environment.

2 sandwiches and 2 portions of French toast took around 40 to turn up. There was not enough cutlery on the table. The cake ordered didn’t turn up at all! But the service was so bad we could have been there for the rest of the day if we asked for it again.

The bacon on both portions of French toast was undercooked. One portion of the French toast was not cooked enough so wasn’t really edible (though a few bites were attempted because I was so hungry by the time it came). The bread on one of the toasted sandwiches was like charcoal.

The service was insanely slow and terrible, serving employees were all rude with an attitude.

The atmosphere swung between non existent and uncomfortable. Between the atmosphere, staff with attitudes and pathetic stools, the whole place was beyond uncomfortable.

After sitting for a very long time waiting for the bill, the table next to us got sick of waiting and asked for theirs to be told that you have to go to the tills to pay. Luckily we overheard so went to the till but we could have sat there for another hour waiting as they didn’t tell anybody.

We then queued to pay which took ages and we were so unhappy with the food and service we decided to split the bill rather than inconveniencing ourselves but they had trouble figuring out how to do that on the till. The only benefit from having to do this was getting to see the cakes which all looked burnt- especially the donuts, so them forgetting our cake meant us avoiding paying for a burnt one.

It’s such a shame because if it was any good it would have increased foot traffic for the lovely independent cinema who have lovely staff.

Will make a point of telling anybody that will listen to avoid this place...

I am a frequent diner at the Codsall restaurant and have never had any issues there. However the first time I came to the Wolverhampton branch service was very slow and inefficient, our food came before our drinks and the tables were dirty. I thought I’d give that visit the benefit of a doubt and come again as it could’ve just been one of those days, but I have been shown again that the Wolves branch does not live up to the same standards as the Codsall branch. The waitresses were polite but could do with some secondary service training to check in after food and drinks have been given as opposed to just standing around as well as the need to explain how to order and pay as my mom hadn’t been before and no guidance was given. It took 25 minutes for two drinks to be given to us (one hot and one cold) and it wasn’t overly busy, we ordered fries and aioli as we were only peckish to be met with a male server that consistently kept putting his hands down the back of his trousers whilst giving other tables (including ours) their food, it was very obvious and was off putting as we got inadvertently flashed as he was pulling up his trousers and underwear. Considering the 30-35 minute wait for a portion of fries you’d expect them to be served warm, however they were quite cold and tasted as if they’d been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. I’m sad to say I will be sticking to the Codsall branch where they serve hot food, clean tables and check in on...

Burger and FLIES anyone?

Having regularly visited Medicine in the Mailbox and Codsall, we were looking forward to this opening nearer to our home in Wolverhampton.

We ordered Halloumi burger, Buttermilk chicken strips and the Nashville Burger & fries.

Midway through the meal, my husband found something strange under the fries , to our horror it was DEAD FLY!! It has clearly been there from the moment it came from that kitchen.

We immediately took this across to the management. They said they couldn't help flies being around....lame response. Instead of saying they should revisit their kitchen hygiene...the manager thought it was reasonable to offer that Nashville burger meal as complimentary . I politely explained that we visit exotic resorts every year and have never found dead flies in our meals, her response was a shrug of the shoulders. Not considering it had ruined our whole lunch their as I hadn't finished mine, the incident wasn't resolved as well as it could have been.

We paid the remainder of the balance as the manager didn't really offer an alternative, disappointing service from Medicine.

This is not a restaurant, flies everywhere, food left uncovered in the bakery area - I will not be visiting here again and to be honest would not recommend.

Very poor service from Medicine, avoid if you don't want DEAD FLIES...
