Sunbeam — Restaurant in Wolverhampton

Me and my partner have been regulars at this place for a good time now, and after last night's service, something has to be said!

For our date night, we decided to have some food here and a couple of drinks. We ordered our first round of drinks through the app, which took approximately 10 minutes to arrive. If it was busy, we could have cut them some slack. But seeing as how we were the only table in (apart from the quiz night taking place), we could not see how it would take so long. The only excuses we could see was that there was no one on the bar to begin with and someone only attended the bar once another guest approached it. My partner believes that they could have been joining in on the quiz, and I have no reason to doubt her, seeing as how we both work in the trade and her attention to detail is better than mine.

When the drinks did arrive, they had the drinks the wrong way round and was served with a very sombre demeanor. We ordered a double vodka and coke with ice and fruit, and a double disaronno with no ice and no fruit. We were served a double vodka with no ice and no fruit and a double disaronno with ice and fruit. We didn't say anything as we were just happy to have our drinks at this point.

When it came to the food, only very minor points with that. The dips on our mix it up were the wrong way round, but it was a simple minor fix that didn't bug us. She enjoyed her steak and the chicken skewers were beautiful as well.

However, the second round of drinks is it what brings me to write this! We ordered the same thing again (not long after receiving our first round of drinks) and took half the time this time. Whilst they still got it the wrong way round again, this time they were served to us WITH THE HANDS OVER THE TOP OF EACH GLASS!!! This is where will be drinking from and we don't want other people's germs going where our lips will be! I wanted to say something at the time but I listened to my partner on this one and said nothing because "they obviously don't care" and after tonight's service, I agree! On a previous visit, we had a great time with one of the male workers there who had a laugh with us as we celebrated my partner's mother's birthday. So I know this doesn't go for everyone there, but the majority of the team most probable!

If the manager or anyone else of the higher ups sees this, please re train your bar FOH staff to pour drinks correctly, read tickets and serve drinks properly! This goes for both over the bar and...

Went to The Sunbeam this morning for a lazy weekend breakfast. Ordered at the bar and weren’t told if any issues, however, after waiting for a while heard the table next to us comment that they had been told at the bar there was about a 45 minute wait. We continued to wait. An hour after placing our order our food was brought out, at this point we were glad to see our food and offered complimentary drinks as an apology for the food taking so long. When we looked at food we were disappointed. The toast and butter, which we had purchased as an extra, was sunflower spread, not butter as stated in the menu, the toast was rock hard - it could literally be knocked on the side of the plate and the eggs were still jellified in places - my pet hate. To make matters worse, the bacon was missing! We spoke to Colin who was dashing round supporting customers and he quickly fetched our missing bacon, apologising as he did so. At the end of our meal Colin once again apologised and explained there had been an influx of additional customers due to issues at the local Wetherspoons. If we had been told at the time of ordering or at any point during our wait we would have been understanding. Popped in this morning for what was supposed to be a quick breakfast before setting off to do grocery shopping. We visit quite often as it's convenient and we enjoy the atmosphere and food. However on this occasion we were left feeling rather disappointed. We ordered 2 of the steak breakfasts. We waited a total of 40 minutes for it to arrive and this wasn't during a busy time. I asked for my steak medium rare and got it medium. Both steaks were dry and overcooked. While waiting for the food to arrive we were only spoken to once by a staff member who told us we weren't forgotten about, even though it was quite odd that people that came in after us were being served their food. We didn't raise a complaint whilst there as we were squeezed on time and needed to leave.

We visit frequently and usually either have a quick coffee or breakfast/lunch and have experienced superb service from all staff regularly. It is one of our favourite places to go as we enjoy the atmosphere and food. Today however, that was not the case. We were really looking forward to our breakfasts but, unfortunately we did not enjoy the food nor our time there on this occasion.
