No32 Broadway — Restaurant in Wychavon

Really great food marred by slow service and zero expectation management.

We arrived for lunch and were seated quickly. We ordered a tapas as a shared starter and a pasta dish each for main asking with some drinks. The drinks arrived quickly.

Over 30 mins later the chef brought over our starter and explained he'd got backed up making pizzas for a different table. Pasta came quickly after we'd finished our tapas starter.

Obvious thing to do was bring our starter quickly, finish the pizzas for someone else then cook our pasta.

Now the food really was great. Really good. As we asked for our bill, I was asked if everything was ok, explained it wasn't and why and was told again "well you were behind a big table". Not a good excuse and no warning was given that we would have to wait 30 mins for our first piece of food. Now as I was about to pay the bill, I noticed they had missed off a beer I had ordered and, being honest, noted it. She duly added on £4.50, which was correct. Have to say, if I were serving such an understandably irritated customer, I would have said the beer was...

Quiet Thursday lunchtime. Initially waitress seemed very off with us. Didn't feel welcome and seemed irritated we had a pushchair with us. Was on the verge of leaving. However we decided to stay. Waitress quickly warmed up to us and became extremely pleasant and the food was wonderful and presented so nicely. Just assuming we caught her at a bad moment. Knocking off two stars as was ultimately overcharged. Brought a £12 salad and a £3.30 coffee (you have to pay 30p extra if you don't want cow's milk). On checking my bank statement, somehow it's come to £21.30 not £15.30. So £6 extra. Obviously my fault for not being suspicious / questioning it at the time. It is expensive to some of the other places you can eat in Broadway, but as already mentioned the food...

Arrived at a very busy time for some lunch and wanted to dine in as it was 2C outside. Had to wait a long time for a table (20mins) which was fine because they were busy. Was seated, shown the menu and left to mull it over. When the waitress came to take our order only at that stage did she point out half the menu was unavailable. We ordered 2 pizzas and then about 5 mins later she came back to say they only had 1 pizza base left. So we ordered 1 pizza and 1 burger. In fairness the burger was really good. The pizza was OK. It was really cold outside, but the inside of the cafe was also freezing. Would have been good to let customers know when they are waiting for a table what isn't avaliable from the menu as we probably would have gone somewhere else...
