Excellent location in a lovely part of the Cotswold's. We have been staying in this area 2 or 3 times a year for the past 12 years but for some reason had never eaten in The Swan and TBH won't again. They know it's a tourist trap and will always be busy although this should never be an excuse for average quality poor value food. TripAdvisor's review summary notes people complaining about variation in portion size. Having just been served what is best described as a large fish finger, 10 chips and a thimble of minted peas i would have to agree, poor value even though £20 seems to be the going rate for a pub meal these days. Incidentally the fish was a bit under-cooked and grey though edible and i was too hungry to send it back. I checked other pictures from reviews and the variation in portion size is clear to see. When the portion size was queried the waitress said 'it looks OK to me'. That's OK then, sorted! Watch out for the sneaky service charge they slip on to your bill even though there is no mention of this even in the small print on the menu and we were only a table of 6. This was removed, no need to pay an extra 15% for what was already poor value. As usual removing the service charge makes everyone feel uncomfortable and awkward, this is why they normally get away with this scandalous practice. I know a lot of places add this but that doesn't make it right. Not even worth 1 star from me but some other members of the group said it was 'OK' so rounded up as an average. The Broadway Tandoori and The Broadway Hotel plus a few others are just seconds away. They are all far superior to The Swan in both quality and value. Reading some of the other reviews I can only imagine that people are either easily pleased or just happy to...
Read moreVisited for a family meal while staying just outside of Broadway. The restaurant has a main bar area to the front which is dog friendly (not my cup of tea) but with a restaurant section to the rear where pets are not allowed. We sat at the rear and were greeted by a traditional low beamed ceilinged room featuring a very welcoming real fire that added to the cosy feel of the place. We ordered mixed breads and olives to start with a round of drinks. These were served nice and quickly and we were allowed plenty of time to enjoy them before they were cleared away and our mains brought. We had a varied mix of meals for mains between us. I had the half rotisserie chicken with fries, my wife had the three cheese and mushroom pizza. Our eldest had the ribeye steak and our youngest had the dirty burger. The chicken I had was absolutely lovely, it was served with a honey glaze, a gravy type sauce and really nice fries. The steak was ordered medium and was cooked perfectly, this came with chunky chips and an excellent peppercorn sauce. The dirty burger was also really good with the smashed patties and brisket topping all being very good. My wife's pizza was excellent with a goodly amount of toppings and a very nice crispy base. We had a mix of wines, beers and soft drinks throughout the meal all of which were served really well. The staff were lovely and friendly and the restaurant was nice and clean.
All in all a lovely restaurant and well worth a visit if...

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting The Swan Inn in Broadway this past Monday while in the area visiting family, and I can honestly say it exceeded all expectations. Being from out of town, we were on the hunt for a lovely country pub to celebrate a family birthday meal—and The Swan Inn delivered in every way.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were met with warmth and charm. The atmosphere was cosy yet refined, and the food was nothing short of delicious—easily some of the best we’ve had in a long time. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
We were served by a young lad named Thomas, slightly tall with dark brown hair and a beard. His professionalism and attentive nature truly made our visit extra special. Thomas went above and beyond to ensure we were well looked after, taking the time to inform us of all dietary requirements—something we really appreciated, especially as our 9-year-old son has allergies. His knowledge and care gave us real peace of mind and allowed us to relax and enjoy the meal with confidence.
Thanks to Thomas, the whole experience was made 10 times better than we ever expected. What a great lad! We’ll absolutely be visiting again the next time we’re in the area, and we sincerely hope Thomas is there to welcome us back.
Highly...
