We booked to go to the Broad Bean based upon some very positive Google reviews. The restaurant was really nice inside, and the lady who greeted us was lovely and looked after us while we were there. Unfortunately, what followed in terms of food and drink wasn't great, at least in terms of economics. My father ordered a glass of Sangria, which was £15. I'm sorry, but for the price of a fairly decent bottle of wine, it was watery, had no brandy in it, and we felt like we were being ripped off, especially considering sangria is usually made with cheap wine and is ~€3 a glass in spain. This theme sadly continued throughout the evening. The dips, at £4 each, were tiny. We ordered the Gambas, which to me conjures images of big shell-on king prawns. These were not - they were small, obviously previously frozen king prawns. With only 6 of them, the £12 price tag, we felt, was nowhere near justified. The same was sadly true of the lamb (also £12, for a small ramekin). Overall, the food was tasty, I don't begrudge that at all, but I do wish the nice lady had worn a mask before she robbed us.
Edit: from the below comment, perhaps I was mistaken about the price of Sangria, in which case I apologise, although I would argue £11 for watery wine is still a rip off. The amount of prawns was correct at 6-7 peeled frozen prawns, which based on previous google reviews/images for this restaurant is...
Read moreAmazingly arrogant lady fails to greet us when we come in, but does somehow find the time to chastise my son for touching a cheap clay ornament placed near the entrance. She continued to chastise him for touching a candle holder on the table, at which point I had to communicate to her that I was looking after my son myself. She continued to stare our way during our meal, which was very uncomfortable. I had booked a table, but was instructed to sit anywhere that didn't say reserved (!). The food was surprisingly bland. The spiced chicken tasted of no spices, the flatbread was undercooked pitabred cut up, the croquetas were so soggy they fell apart when picked up. For the life of me, I couldn't tell you why this restaurant has such a...
Read moreOne of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure to visit. Intimate family run open kitchen area restaurant. The food is amazing, everything is tasty and portion size perfect. The Sangria is a must, large glasses and delicious. The service is excellent, everyone works incredibly hard to give a fantastic dining experience. The ambience is great for a small restaurant. Ignore the negative comments made by others about rude staff that are just nasty, remember this is a husband and wife team supported by young staff working exceptionally hard. I cannot recommend this place enough, I will always visit when in...
