Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant - Aberdeen, SD — Restaurant in Aberdeen Township

While visiting Aberdeen, SD on business this week, I decided to have Mexican food for my early dinner. I ordered a Chimichanga. I was very good. My food arrived very quickly. I was quite pleased. I will have dinner there again when I return next week.

The following week I attempted to get takeout at Guadalajara. It was Sunday, they close at 8pm. It was 10 minutes to 8, I opened the door to ask if I could get a to go order. The man at a server terminal did not turn to look at me in the doorway. He just shouted NO. I left, next week I'll be back in Aberdeen,SD. I Will NOT be visiting this...

so much potential.....salsa and chips were great. Fresh, bright flavors......then came the entree....the most bland, flavorless mass of ground beef in a taco and burrito, then no flavor to the chicken enchilada either. The guac was good, fresh, but a $1.50 upcharge for an ice cream scoop worth of guac is crazy.....and don't even get me started on the runny gray mess that was supposed be refried beans......I suppose if you melt enough cheese over it, people in Aberdeen won't know better or care...

The food was hot, the portions generous, but this was a really poor excuse for mexican food....so...

We have gone here many, many times and enjoyed our food and the service every time. We love that we get chips and salsa to snack on right away while we wait for our food. We have picky kid eaters that find things they like and have gradually tried and enjoyed more foods here. There's a kids menu and a wide variety on the regular menu. There are lunch specials. The booths are big but we have had to call ahead to reserve their big table/room when we had a large group. The price is GREAT. Cheaper than many fast food restaurants, yet much...
