I had reserved an accessible room. When I checked in I asked if that room was accessible. It wasn't. Instead of the 2Q accessible room that I had reserved, we ended up in a 1K with sofa bed accessible room.
I did not receive any recognition for being an IHG Rewards Member. Not even a bottle of water which I usually get from other IHG Hotels.
The sofa itself sags in the middle. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable with a bar that you could feel through the mattress.
The mattress on the king bed was so soft that I sank into it every time I sat down, like a mattress taco. A piece of the bed support was sticking out of the side of the bed. I am lucky I saw it before it cut my leg. I tried, but I could not push it back in.
There is a table with two chairs in the room. The table top was so loose that it would wobble and turn every time I touched it. The seats of the chairs were so soft we sank down when sitting on them.
The bathroom was good with decent bars to hold on to but the toilet was too low. I think it was a regular size rather than the higher toilet which should be in an accessible room.
The maids we saw were friendly and did just the towels and the garbage as we had asked except one day, they did not do the garbage in main room.
The refrigerator door catches on the wall and does not shut all the way unless you push it shut. Luckily I noticed this when we first got into the room so we were careful to be sure it was closed.
The hallway carpets have not been vacuumed along the walls and in the corners for a long time as you could see the dust where the vacuum cleaners could not reach. The carpet itself is coming apart in places with strings sticking out. The tile in front of the elevators is broken.
The breakfast was decent with many choices although there were no cinnamon rolls left Monday morning.
This used to be a nice hotel that we have stayed in several times. It is showing wear and tear...
Read moreI will not be staying at this location again. This is the first review I have ever made, so I apologize if not clear enough. When I first checked in, the staff was pleasant. When I got up to my room, I was very disappointed to not have a small dorm fridge in my room, (it has been a while since I had a room without a fridge). I went to wash my hands in the restroom, and the drain in the sink was very slow(filled up, took 20 minutes to drain).
Later that night, I went down to the front desk to get change for a dollar, and there was another customer down there asking where his stuff is because there is now someone else in his room. He had been there over lunch, and now his stuff is gone. front desk explained that his room had been moved to a different room. after hearing that, I considered leaving the hotel right there. I chose to stay, and decided to leave my DND on my door, hoping that no-one would enter my room. This hotel is connected to a event center behind it, and Saturday night when I returned for the night, there was a event going on, I could not park anywhere near the hotel. ( I ended up in the target parking lot across the street.) The breakfast is ok, although right at 6 a.m. (I showed up at 5:50 a.m.) they were out of coffee, and the omelets they were serving were still partially frozen. Like I said in the beginning of this review, It takes a lot for me to consider not using a hotel, or any business, but after thinking about these various things that came up in only 2 days, I decided that maybe this would help someone else's decision on this location. I am a platinum IHG member, so I really want to use this location because it's the only IHG in Aberdeen, SD. That being said, I will be staying somewhere else when traveling to Aberdeen...
