We recommend Hampton Inn if you are staying in the Aberdeen area. We stayed here in October, 2023 and then again, most recently, here in July. The employees here have been exceptional both times we visited while attending family weddings.||Back in October, we were initially booked at the Fairfield Inn. Unfortunately, they had no account of our reservation when we arrived at Fairfield. To make matters even worse, the hotel was booked solid as there were several weddings in town that |weekend. Fairfield was gracious enough to call over to the Hampton Inn to see if they had any available rooms. Fortunately, one was available and we took it. We booked two nights at the Hampton Inn and enjoyed our short stay. We ended up having a medical emergency with my husband the second night we were there. The Hampton Inn took a hit on the room that night by graciously reimbursing us as we headed to Sioux Falls by plane and car. ||So this month we booked with the Hampton Inn. We had been so happy with the stay in October that there was really no question as to where we would stay again. The second night we were there I realized I had misplaced or lost my cell phone. Cory at the front desk was amazing. He and I were able to track down my phone to the restaurant we had eaten at earlier in the evening. He was able to also get a hold of my husband to retrieve the cell phone for me. Thank you, Cory! It would not have been a fun weekend had we left town on Sunday morning without that cell phone. A special shout-out also goes out to the lady who worked so had in the breakfast area both mornings we were there. She was so friendly and so hard-working. I wish I had gotten her name. She even came up to us one of the mornings to let us know they'd be closing down in 30 minutes and if we needed to let family know this that we should let them know as soon as possible.||We had hiccups occur in our lives the last two times we visited Aberdeen. Thank you for helping us get through those hiccups, Hampton Inn!!! Our visits wouldn't have gone near as smoothly without your wonderful customer service and employees who assisted us as needed!!!||Hampton Inn, you are blessed with some great employees in Aberdeen - at the front desk, in the breakfast area, and the housekeeping department does a great job keeping the hotel clean! We will be back - keep up the good work of taking exceptional care of those who...
Read moreYou will miss your bed at home real quick! The only thing keeping me from giving a two star or worse rating was the fantastic customer service: front desk, housekeeping, and the breakfast attendant. Otherwise this Hilton-brand Hampton Inn and Suites is not worth the higher price point than many of the other options in Aberdeen and is way overdue for a refresh (maybe we can blame Covid-19). The colors and finishes in the lobby, halls and rooms are dinged, scuffed and just plain ugly. The king-sized bed in our non-suite room was caving in and needing replacement. When booking, be aware not all the rooms are like the pictures on the site, some are very plain with no kitchenette, just an awkward mini fridge and microwave by the desk in the room. No real dresser if you like to unpack just a small hutch with sticking drawers that the TV sits on. Pull out style love seat sofa seemed like a great option for the kids, but the window was very drafty and our son about froze the first night. The blankets were very thin waffle weave style. We asked for a second for the next night and he put on extra clothes and was okay. Not comfortable enough for an adult, he slept on it backwards, because even he could feel the metal. The bathroom was a good size which was nice for a family traveling with younger kids, but the bathroom fixtures were loose and the shower almost didn't work. The toilet took several flushes. The pillows in our room weren't the usual mixture of firm and soft (feather and polyfill as it turned out for here), but housekeeping brought us new ones when we inquired at the front desk during breakfast. The breakfast was quite good. Many choices, including an oatmeal area with fixings, plus other hot options, waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, biscuits and gravy one morning and the next eggs and sausage patties. Coffee options were hot. Pool and hot tub area was small, but we had fun anyways. Pool towels were restocked regularly. Elevator floor became sticky one evening, but as we were in and out, right away they had it mopped I noticed. Again, great customer service that way. We also did laundry which was weirdly on the second floor off in the corner, kinda creepy, but washing and each dry cycle was just a dollar in quarters. Front...
Read moreYikessss. Definitely not the nicest Hilton I have been to. Upon arrival they did not have their laundry done and none of the rooms were ready so I had to wait an extra 2 hours until my room was done. Nothing that can be done but wait so I didn't put up a fuss but what? Really? It sucks having to drive so far and wanting to just lay down or shower and to not be able to. I was also planning on passing my time here by the pool but nope, that was broken too. Overally this wasn't bad but it was very meh, which is unlike the my experience around the country when I stay at Hiltons. I hate to be picky, but it's hard not to be when you have to stay there for a while. The decor in the room is uhhh outdated for me personally, it felt like I was staying at a grandma's house. They indeed were clean though which in the end, is all that really matters. For a suite you get, I guess a couch, a chair, plus a fridge and microwave. A lot of other places that I have been to have the fridge and microwave included already in the standard rate so you don't have to upgrade.... Also, thought I'd save some money and eat the breakfast and oh god is it nasty. Grey looking sausage links, somehow dry but wet potatoes, and for egg choices you get hardboiled eggs in a plastic bag, or an omelet that has meat in it. I don't eat meat so that sucked I couldn't have hot eggs. Maybe by Midwest standards this is a great hotel but if you're forced to stay in this place for work, let me tell you that it is nooooot the standard that other Hamptons are. The real saving grace is that it is across the street from restaurants and right next to Target and Walmart if you...
