I was referred to the AmericInn through one of the Northern State softball families, as many of the NSU parents stay here when they are in town. We live in California, so visiting is tough, and previously we had stayed at the Ramkota, but I was assured that the AmericInn was clean and comfortable, and they provided a lowered rate for NSU families. Well, needless to say, we were extremely pleased with our accommodations at the AmericInn and will continue to stay there over the next 3 years when we come into town for games.
I called them direct, set up a reservation less than a week in advance with no problem - and was happy to get a room, considering that there were three other baseball teams from out of town staying there, as well as a wedding, and a track team. The front desk people were friendly - actually ALL the staff was very friendly (I love the mid-west...Californians definitely aren't as accommodating as the people in the mid-west!).
Our room was nice sized, with two Queen beds, which were very comfortable. Everything in the room worked (which I can say hasn't always been the case in places we've stayed in Aberdeen), the facility is centrally located to stores and restaurants, and set back off of Highway 12, which was very nice.
They serve a FULL hot breakfast with anything from yogurt and oatmeal, to belgian waffles, eggs, sausage, BISCUITS AND GRAVY!, fruit...fresh juices and coffee. Seriously a huge "W" and bang for the buck. The pool area, while a tad on the hot and muggy side, was a great place to hang out with the other softball families (considering it was overcast and rainy)...and the bar accommodations were a nice touch as well.
The front lobby has a large inviting gas fireplace with seating and areas to hang out, or play games (as we witnessed some of the baseball team doing). Hot coffee is always available in the lobby, as well as daily newspapers. Honestly, I can't say enough about the AmericInn...we definitely will...
Read moreAs I write this, it is 7 am and I'm up after having gotten one of the worst night's sleeps that I've ever had. I'm here traveling with family, so we opted to get a suite. My parents and younger sister slept in the bedroom and I took the pull out bed in the living room. The bed is great - no complaints there. But I do not even know where to begin with the noise. Our room is directly above the lobby. I initially tried to go to bed at midnight, but there was so much noise from people walking the halls and from the room next to ours that I ended up playing on my phone for a while. By about 1 am, I was asleep. I was woken up two times between the hours of 1 and 3:30 because there was music from a Top 40 station playing very loudly in the lobby. I did not look at the clock the first time, as I was able to fall back to sleep right away. The second time I woke up I found myself unable to get back to sleep, so I walked down to the front desk to see what I could do about the loud music. Except there was no one at the desk. I waited. And waited. And waited. I finally reached over the desk, picked up their phone, and dialed "0." The employee answered from wherever she was and said she would be right there. Upon arriving back at the desk she said, "Sorry, I had to step away for five minutes," but I had already been standing there for more than five minutes, so her lie was aggravating. She agreed to turn the music off, thankfully, but I couldn't get back to sleep after that. There were banging and slamming sounds as well as voices and what sounded like a heavy cart rolling through the lobby all night. I'm here for family activities today and now I have to try to get through this day on only two hours of sleep. I travel quite often, and I've never had an experience as bad as this in a hotel. Be warned! If you stay here, get a room far away from the lobby, and...
Read moreI arrived and the tub was filthy. There was dirty soap scum filled with pubic hair from the previous person that was there. The shower curtain was staged as if it was cleaned but obviously it wasn’t cleaned well. I let the front desk know so that housekeeping could try again. Housekeeping came and swept the floor, made my bed, and left a pub infested tub for me to look at. I let the front desk know again and they said they would have housekeeping there to try again the next day. Well, that doesn’t help me take a shower that night so I asked if I can have it cleaned now. I was handed a sad excuse for a wash cloth and Lysol disinfectant aerosol can. Besides the fact that now I’m cleaning my restroom for Wyndham, disinfectant is not a cleaner…it’s a disinfectant. I let them know that and they handed me an unopened bottle of cleaner without the spray nozzle. I couldn’t have a spray nozzle because they were in other cleaning bottles. So, I asked for some gloves since now I need to turn the tub into a makeshift bucket to make my own cleaning solution. Eventually, after a lot of scrubbing and using my hands to cup water to rinse the shower walls because the shower head doesn’t reach, I’m done; to the best of my ability. Second, why do your “upgraded” rooms not have a desk to use? There’s a couch, a single small chair, and a small coffee table. How can I use my laptop? Using a coffee table sized for a child with now outlets around doesn’t work all that well. Even Motel 6, and the others like it, at least have a desk and suitable chair. Needless to say, I’ll never come back to this...
