I was put in several different rooms before finding one where refrigerator AND tv worked and beds and odors were acceptable. It was later in evening and I was there because family in ICU so I didn’t need this. Sarah, front desk, did absolutely everything to keep checking rooms and was apologetic. She brought me some ice packs to keep my items cold until refrigerator cooled down. The next morning I returned the ice packs and met Melissa the manager. Rather than be apologetic she wanted to blame Sara for not calling her to come fix a tv in the first room. She also seemed irritated I had ice packs and in front of me asked the person overseeing the breakfast room if she had enough ice packs for her equipment. Sara had made sure she didn’t take to many and truly believed I would return them . . . which I did. This motel needs a lot of cleanup and updates. The staff was excellent. The manager promised to give me extra Choice Reward points when I suggested a credit to my account for all the inconveniences of previous night. She didn’t follow through on that offer. Her management approach is to blame people and is not about trying to find resolutions or taking ownership. I don’t think she would have offered Choice Reward points if I hadn’t suggested an adjustment to my bill . . . Again, she didn’t apply any points to my account.
When I was walking down the hall in the morning rooms were being cleaned and 2 very nice employees let me peak in a room because I noticed it was a different layout. Melissa saw this and asked in a tone of voice that suggested disapproval “can I help you”. I took time to compliment the employees to Melissa because I had the feeling I had put them in a bad position.
I’ve never written a lengthy review like this but I thought it was necessary. I don’t have any respect for managers that handle situations by blaming employees. I truly felt I had to defend the employees for trying to do a great job offering excellent customer service. From Melissa I received zero compassion about my reason being there and the...
Read moreThe hotel is nice overall, but we didn't have a fantastic stay this time. One of the beds in our room had a big dip in the middle, causing my son and I to constantly roll into each other throughout the night. It seems we had the misfortune to get one of the rooms whose mattresses had not yet been replaced. The pool was closed for maintenance, which is understandable as things need to be repaired occasionally, but I wish I had known about this ahead of time. I may have chosen a different hotel as we were all looking forward to swimming. I think there is plenty of parking here, even with the hunters and their extra gear, trailers, etc. whatever they have with. I don't believe the hotel was full this time though, as the west side of the building didn't seem to have anyone parked there throughout our stay. The continental breakfast is good, they usually have eggs and some kind of meat each morning, waffles, breads and bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit, yogurt, milk, juice, and coffee. It doesn't feel like it's cheap, or at least not bad like other hotels. I think you can eat a solid breakfast each morning, and not have to worry about going elsewhere to pay. While I took away a star for the bed issues, and the pool, I do still recommend staying here. The rates were very reasonable (about $65-70 each night), especially for the holiday weekend, and the staff has always been courteous...
Read moreWhen checking in, I asked if I could possibly get my room upgraded to a larger/better room, as, the front desk staff, wherever I am at, usually will upgrade my room, if there is a room available. I was told by the girl at the front desk that my reservation was "locked in to a specific room, by her manager, and, that there was nothing that she could do for me". I said, well, o.k., and accepted her response. She also seemed to be more pre-occupied with talking to her boyfriend, who was leaning on the front desk when I was trying to check in, than she was with taking care of my check in process. When I drove to the back of the motel, and hauled my 3 computer bags/luggage up to the top floor, I found that my room key did not work. I saw a housekeeper walking in the hall way, and she asked me if she could help me. She tried my room key, and said that she would take it back to the front desk. About 10 minutes later, the same girl that had been very short with me on check-in, appeared with my room key, and said that she had forgot to program it upon check-in!!! I was not happy with the level of "we just could care less about you", that I received from this motel. I doubt if I would stay here again. I was also told by the front desk that the girl that checked me in, was no longer with the motel, so, she obviously had some type of problem,...
