When my husband & I found out that there was a Bagel Nook closer to my home (we usually go to the freehold location which is excellent), we were eager to give it a try. Immediately upon walking in we got annoyed/dirty looks from the cashier. We waited our turn and walked up and placed our order-- two bagels and an assorted 1/2 dozen bagels to go. I've ordered iced coffee from the Freehold location in the past, but I forgot which one I had, so I asked the cashier what coffee drinks they had since I didn't see any on the wall menu or on their IG page. She gave me an annoyed look, pointed to the back wall and said "There's self serve coffee over there." I asked again about the iced drinks and she asked if I wanted an overloaded coffee, but didn't explain what those drinks were. I said "ok thank you" and just let my husband order. A few minutes later my husband pulled me to the side and told me that while we were waiting for our bagels, he saw one of the girls behind the counter make a face at his bagel and say to that same cashier "she's with him? Must be for a visa. Also YUCK, who orders tomatoes on a bagel, that's disgusting." My husband is Polish, and it's very common in European culture to order ham with cream cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers (popular breakfast in Poland). I am extremely disgusted and offended by the customer service and environment in that location. The rude comments, lack of customer assistance and patience the cashier and other employee displayed made us uncomfortable and not welcome at all. The sad part of it all is that the bagels were delicious and fresh, and we also tipped with our order. We will NOT be returning to this location-- I'd rather drive 15 more mins back to the Freehold location for much better...
Read moreThe bagels here are unreal. Easily the best in New Jersey. I’ve been coming almost every week for a while now and the food never disappoints. But the staff… they make the experience miserable. There’s barely ever a greeting or even a “hi.” Half the time the girl taking orders is leaned over the counter scrolling through her phone while talking to people. Like, why is your phone even out while you’re working? It just feels lazy and unprofessional. Today one girl got frustrated with customers and said, “I can take anyone else over here… okay or not,” in this annoyed tone that made everyone go silent and feel uncomfortable. The woman who took my order didn’t even look up, messed up my order, and when I pointed it out she just said, “Well you said you wanted this,” and then went “mmkay” after I apologized and corrected myself like I was bothering her. Again, her phone was on the counter and she was leaning over the counter (having her elbows on it) instead of standing upright. These are tiny things that do make a difference in the atmosphere and in how customers feel as someone who worked in food service for many years. The bagels are a 10/10. The people working there? Absolutely not. It’s such a shame because the food deserves all five stars, but the service drags the whole place down every...
Read moreI ordered the sugar cookie overload (tye dye bagel, birthday cake cream cheese, sugar cookie inside). I was sooo excited to taste this!!! I didn’t taste any birthday cookie flavor at all. Be sure to ask for a toasted bagel. Mine was very cold and they said it couldn’t be toasted after assembly. The sugar cookie was hard and IMHO overcooked. I would have liked a warm and soft cookie. The bagel cost over $9 and it was VERY VERY big. I kept expecting and wanting a sweeter cream cheese and a flavored bagel, but that never came through. I was very disappointed. My husband had the crumb cake overload. He liked his. The crumb cake flavor was strong and sweet. I tasted his and agreed. Overall, the “overloads” are much too big for us so we will downgrade to just a flavored bagel and flavored cream cheese and split it possibly. I’d like to try more flavors and I will. But my first go around was unfortunately not...
