Dante's Pizza — Restaurant in Abilene

Just finished eating and I probably won’t be eating there again for a while. Ate in the dining room tonight with my boyfriend, and I noticed a few gnats when we sat down but didn’t think anything of it since it’s the warmer season and we were near the trash. When we got our food and started eating, I saw gnats getting on the plates/cups, then looked up to see around 10 gnats flying around us. We even moved seats so we wouldn’t be near the trash can because I thought that was the issue. After moving as far from the trash as possible, we continued eating but still noticed gnats flying around us. Thankfully, an employee had brought us more breadsticks in a to go box and we ended up shoving the food we still had in the box and finished eating in the car. And when I threw our trash away tons of gnats came flying out of the trash can 🤢. The food is typically pretty good and we all know they need an updated soda machine, so those things weren’t an issue. But if they allow the dining room to be THAT full of gnats, I cant trust that where they make the food isn’t the same way. I also can’t justify giving $20-$30 to a restaurant that can’t be bothered to clean the dining area/trashcans enough to be able to eat...

I hadn't been there in years, but I can say their pizza "used" to look and be good. I used to think they had the best pizza. However, I went today and not only was the cashier guy rude. The pizza was not at all what it used to be. The cashier guy didn't greet any customers nor thank them. When he handed me my pizza, he just tossed it on the counter and said nothing. Remember you chose the job, the job didn't choose you. If you have poor customer skills, why work there. Even my 7yr old said the pizza looked disgusting. And chose not to eat his slice afterall. I tried offering it to someone else. But, no one wanted it so we ended up just tossing both slices. I had bitten off of mine. And it definitely was not the great pizza it once was years ago.. Will definitely not be returning.. Not only because the pizza is no longer good. But that customer service & attitude is so poor.. I also noticed the 3.5 % fee if you use a card. Asked him a question, and all he did was nod his head no verbal...

Have been eating at Dantes for for about 12 years now and loved this place under the old ownership. They changed ownership anout 3 years ago now and its just gone down hill. They never have any help but very heats from old employees it's because the new owners are horrible and that's why they can't keep help. My wife and I ate there Sunday and there was a sign saying menu prices reflected cash payment. ..debit and credit card users would pay 3.5% more or processing. Our bill was 20.21 but after credit card payment it was 21.49. The higher yiur bill the more yiu pay for nothing....just paying for them what they should be paying as part of their operating expense. Sorry but prices are high enough alreay...already... menu prices have also increaed...increased... I just don't think they should stick it to the customer for simply paying with a card. I feel these owners are going to run this business into the ground which is sad as it used to be one of my fav places for...
