My husband and I were on our way to the reliable Addison Sushi but we saw Ardy's is new to us and decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad we did!
The service from the staff was fantastic, and we were mostly left alone to enjoy each other's company and converse.
The food was above my expectations. Ardy's serves a complimentary lentil soup if you want it and I'm so glad I gave it a try. It was brightly flavored, and colored, with a soft texture. I polished off the bowl! The appetizer sampler was incredible; it included the best baba ghanoush I've ever had, a delightful loaded labneh, and well-balanced flavored dolmas. The baba ghanoush has the perfect level of smokiness and tanginess that had me coming back for more. I typically find smoked flavors are overdone and fake smoke enhancers used, but I didn't get that at all here. The dolmas were fantastic, not too sour and not oily, not bitter at all, and the leaves were soft and easy to bite through. The loaded labneh was rich and tangy but not overwhelming, the veggies on top were fresh and a lovely addition visually and tasted great.
I got the falafel tower with grilled veggies and greek salad for my entree. Personally, I recommend the honey mustard that comes with the grilled veggies on the side because the veggies themselves are seasoned with paprika and the honey mustard would hide it. I loved that the veggies were not an overcooked, soggy, oily mess. They were cooked just enough to be soft but still had a bite. The greek salad was better than I expected too! Not overly salted, tangy, and a great herbaceous thyme flavor that helped to balance and ground the brightness of the dressing. It was addicting to eat. The falafels are also amazing. Not dry and crumbly but moist enough to hold together but dry enough the crust was satisfyingly crunchy. I wish I could place the flavors for you, but just know it was tasty.
The sauces - tzatziki, Mo, and honey mustard - were all delicious and well balanced, like the dishes. Nothing was too salty or overwhelming and all the sauces complimented the flavors of the entree parts.
The service from our server, the other servers, and who I believe was the owner, was attentive but not intrusive. You can tell they care about providing delicious food, prompt service, and a great experience with the way they asked questions and offered suggestions.
I'm absolutely coming back to enjoy the menu again, it was all so satisfying...
Read moreDELICIOUS BUT FIRST let me start with the bathroom. I went to wash my hands before eating- HOW ABOUT HOT WATER!!?!? within the first 10 seconds of it running! I love that because i cannot stand washing my hands in cold water. So many businesses don't have running hot water for the bathroom sink. 2nd most awesome thing about this place- the PHONE JAIL lol The waitress told me in Persian culture family dinner time is important and people engage with each other not their phone!! So to encourage you to talk to your dinner mates , if you put your phone in "jail" at your table you get a free dessert. I didn't put my phone in because I didn't want dessert but also because it's not necessary for me. I don't stay on my phone while at dinner. It amazes and saddens me how many people these days are more into their phone rather than the person they're out having a meal with . it's insane- anyway moving on to the food! I got the tenderloin tower- the meat was sooooooo tender and juicy and well flavored. The Mediterranean side salad was perfect. Fresh and crisp and the lemon herb vinaigrette was perfect too. The zuchinni and squash I wish were cooked a little longer and I have never heard of honey mustard coming with those types of veggies but just know if you order it, it comes covered in the honey mustard sauce so you might want to ask them to put it on the side or take it off all together. I chose to have them remake mine once I saw it came covered in it. The honey mustard was good though as I did end up tasting a pinky dip of it from my friends plate. It doesn't taste like usual store bought or restaurant honey mustard in my opinion. It tastes like maybe they might make it in house. It just taste fresher like there's maybe very little additivities or maybe NONE at all. It just doesn't taste like your typical bottled honey mustard. It might quite literally be their perfect measurement of plain honey and simple mustard. IDK just saying it was good even though i didn't want my veggies covered in it. I did dip my tenderloin into their MO Sauce- that was yummy!! If you like garlic mayo then you'll like this. This is a garlicky spicy sauce. My friend ordered their lamb chop tower with veggies and the greek salad. They enjoyed their meal as well and thanked me for finding this place. I live no where near here but will def add this to my fav Mediterranean places on this...
Read moreThe decor is deceptive.. the place feels like a diner and isn't decorated with many warm elements. The music selection is an odd Latin/South American dance mix and though it matches the decor, it's a bit of a contrast with the food and the service.
The food, first, was absolutely amazing. The hummus was so good and made with high quality ingredients and olive oil. One of the people in our party ate it directly out of the bowl with a spoon. The restaurant serves a lentil soup that had a really pleasing exotic blend of flavors, enhanced with sourness from either lemon or tomato. One of our party got a lamb tower and the meat was so tender and juicy.. It was definitely marinated at least overnight. I had a gyro.. the gyro was passable, but I'll be ordering a tower the next time I go back. The seasoned fries were amazing! We had a vegan in our party who really enjoyed the lentil soup and grilled vegetables. We didn't try the falafel, but they have it there.
For dessert, we tried the cream puffs and baklava. The cream puffs had a pleasant mouth feel and were made of a light dough. When you bit down on them, they'd suddenly make a satisfying pop, releasing a cream that wasn't too sweet and had a taste reminiscent of ice cream. The baklava wasn't a typical filo dough pastry. It was a horseshoe shaped, rolled up, light and flaky pastry filled with minced pistachio in the center. I'd recommend both.
The service was great! Our waitress was warm and friendly and her personality was super authentic! Did a great job of explaining dishes to us. Attentive and engaging without being overbearing. She genuinely seemed to like what she was doing and really enhanced the experience.
Not necessarily the best setting for a formal dinner, but a great place to go get some really tasty Mediterranean food in a...
