This is a difficult review to give as the rating falls to the entire experience. I've been here several times as a customer coming from a nearby flight school.
The first time we came here, there was no direction as to where to sit (seated or ourselves?). We went to counter and ordered, then wanted beers.
Assumed it was all self service as there was no help to be found at tables. We then got yelled at by some lady. Definitely not shy, and as she informed is several times, is the owner of the place.
Another time after learning lesson about ordering (go to bar and they will take care of you eventually, otherwise we've still no idea), we tried again. With the same lady, again informing us she owns the restaurant, was extremely rude.
Here's a tip- you may own the restaurant. What allows you to continue to operate in an ownership capacity are customers coming in and giving you money. We don't want to argue with you in simply attempting to place an order. Really could care less about any commentary other than what would you like?
I especially enjoyed asking for ketchup (the self serve pump is usually empty), being told sure, then completely ignored while ketchup is brought to another helpless soul in search of flavoring their fries.
In a third trip, thankfully we didn't have to deal with owner lady, though did get to hear her telling someone else she was the owner while getting then ketchup as the pump was empty.
There actual food is really good. It deserves 5 stars for the BBQ. If you order a hamburger, you will be reminiscent of the old Wendys commercial of the old lady asking, "where's the beef?!"
However, for service, there isn't a negative star available, nor is "so terrible it's almost comical" , so instead, as it plays into the experience overall, the rating is reduced to accommodate.
The food could make this great, though with an owner that is more interested in self gratification rather than improving, I'm not sure how long this will last. The husband is fantastic and friendly, just the other half in desperate need of attention.
We've tried several times, and there are much more illustrative examples of how not to treat customers. Instead, please go experience the BBQ and see for yourselves and draw your own conclusions.
There is a reason why most of the parking lot is empty. It is not because the food is bad, but that the total experience is that of frustration management- not what you want when all you want is some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAddison has a new hidden jewel Austin Bar-B-Que. While Addison is known for its many restaurants it is not exactly known for good barbecue but if Austin barbecue stays committed and true to what I ate to day that's all about to change. The food was great! I normally don't give too many greats when talking about barbecue. I am a foodie and a Texas girl cornbread and catfish fed. So my quest for good barbecue is a serious one. I believe they had a soft opening a couple of days ago the server said And this was the 1st weekend they were open. 1st impression charming and welcoming outside. When I enter there was a great smell of ya'll know this is important because if a barbecue restaurant don't have "that smell" I'm walking right back out..Lol! I was welcome and given a nice review of options for dining table seating, bar seating or carry out. I chose a to meet plate Smoked Turkey and pork ribs with 2 sides fried okra (not greasy) in black eyed pea salad, Which Was kind of like a Texas caviar but not. It's one of their own signature side dishes and It was very good. The ribs pulled right off the bone they didn't appear to be parboiled then smoked (which I hate, in Texas that's like beans in chili...nooooo) and yes I can tell the difference. The Turkey was smoked in moist really good. I was provided to sauces spicy regular the regular was good however the spicy was a Ted bit vinegarish to me. I know this review is long but I really wanted to write a good true review I get tired of Google in and all I see a shout outs or shout downs. Neither of which truly helpful when deciding to go or not to go! I need details! Austin Bar-B-Que doesn't have that chain feel like Dickies or Spring Creek or Rudy''s or Soulmans. Austin will take the open spot for my top five DFW BBQ places (Cattelack BBQ, Hard Eight BBQ, Pecan Lodge, Austin Bar-B-Que Ten50 BBQ) *I purchased my own meal and this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've dined here for years alongside my family. Tonight my two children my 8 yo boy on the spectrum and my 9 yo girl. My children like to dance to their live music, play with the gold arcade machine and check out the billiards. We had finished our meal and I had ordered 2 drinks from the bar the bartender "Beth" was hostile since serving me at the bar, which I don't mind women can be catty and I am used to that, ehat was completely out of line was Beth (probably in her early to mid 60's) had the audacity to come to my table and direct herself to my son, not me and asked HIM where the white billiards ball was because "you were over there playing and now we can find it, what did you do it?" My son who is autistic immediately withdrew and just covered his ears and told me I don't know where it is, I didn't touch it, she was still insisting he gad been over there and began to blame him that because of that others could no longer play. Mind you I'm not the type of mother who let's the kids be unhinged or anything and my children wouldn't take something ( A billiards ball would be very noticeable in his jeans) my daughter sensed Beth's tension and offered to go look for the ball, so then there we had my daughter looking all over in the general area of the billiards table for the white ball. I just order two from Amazon which I will be delivering to Austin's owner directly and letting him know he had lost a patron and my eord of mouth recommendation to any potential patrons. Such behavior from a grown woman is unacceptable firstly Beth should have not directed herself at my son but at me, because adults are intimidating to children and her hostile demeanor couldn't be concealed. What was even more so astonishing is that the young cashier gentleman told me they have had several complaints...
