For starters: we found this place through TikTok. The review made it look completely different than what it actually is.
For one. It’s much smaller that described. Not that that’s bad! But don’t expect a large restaurant, it’s about average size.
The menu is completely digital and you order like you would for online pick up. Then either a human or robot bring you the food.
The quality is great and it all obviously fresh… so that it not the complaint at all! The reviews saying it’s the best din sum are accurate. The reason for the 3 stars is the lack of honesty in the menu vs what the food really is and it’s portion sizes. The menus sizes are significany different from what size portion you get. And some of the food didn’t even look the same! For instance. The veggie dumplings are obviously green in the photo, but when they arrive it’s the exact same as all the other dumplings. For a none pork eating girl…. It made my comfort lever drop. ( see pictures) My husband dumpling looked like they came is a sauce in a medium sized bowl on the menu, but the actual item was a snack sized bowl with maybe half of the described sauce.
The noodle dish we ordered seemed about half the size that the menu made it seem as well, and for $28 it wasn’t a large size.
Service was friendly and there were multiple waiters that checked on us. Our water were kept full.
But this is NOT worth the hour drive we put in to try it out (2 hours round trip).
If you found this place through a social media review… be warned that it’s not what they make it seem like.
If you live close, yes, it is worth a try. But for a longer that 20min drive…...
Read moreFairly pricey compared to other dim sum places of similar quality elsewhere in the US, but was a pleasant find in Dallas near where we were staying. Overall, we found the dumplings to be the highlight as well as the robot waiter that brings out the food from the kitchen so the wait staff do not have to make as many trips to the kitchen. The bathrooms were also very clean and well maintained and the wait staff friendly and attentive (bringing water and napkins as we needed them without prompting).
Soup Dumplings, 5 pieces ($9.99) - The skin was soft and supple, and the filling was flavorful with an ample amount of soup.
Scallion Pancakes ($7) - Chewy with a mild amount of scallion flavor even though some pieces had a lot of scallions. Some pieces barely had any scallions. I probably won't order this again. It did come with a dipping sauce that I really liked - tasted like chili oil (with sichuan peppercorns providing a mala numbing feeling), vinegar, and soy sauce.
Shuimai (Pork & Shrimp) 4 pieces ($8) - Tasty, would order again.
Chicken Celery Dumpling, 6 pieces, steamed ($8) - Tasty, would order again. Pretty yellow, golden wrappers
Pork Chives Dumpling, 6 pieces, steamed ($8) - Tasty, would order again. The filling was saltier and juicier than the chicken dumplings with a pleasant strong garlic chives flavor.
Chinese Broccoli w/ oyster sauce ($10) - Unfortunately, the jielan was bitter (both the leaves and the stalks). The oyster sauce was so strong it tasted like straight oyster sauce from the bottle (and not the typical blend of sauces).
Bean curd sheet roll, 3 pieces ($7.50) - Tasty, would...
Read moreResponding to the owner's response: We totally understand the short staff situation but this has nothing to do with acknowledging your customer as they walk in to your restaurant and wait at the door for more than 15 mins. It's 2 different things. You are not addressing the root cause of why your (potential) customer were upset that drove them to walk out the door. We would have stayed to try your food and would not had minded for longer wait if we were being acknowledged by you or your staff while at the door. We were there at the host stand at least 25 mins!
Original Review: ZERO hospitality and ZERO customer service. We (2 ppl) came in for dinner and were standing by the host stand to get seated. There was no hostess by the stand but several waitresses/waiters saw us and 2 ladies behind the bar were also glancing at us. We were standing there at least 20 mins, no one at the restaurant acknowledged us. I understand that restaurant could get busy and might running into issue with short staff but they should had made an effort to at least say hi or acknowledge us. NOTHING. Obviously, everyone that worked there saw us standing there for awhile but none made an effort to acknowledge us. The 2 ladies by the bar did glance at us and gave us dirty look. I believe one of them was the owner. We decided to just walk out after the stare. We were excited to try this new place but we also don’t deserve the dirty look for trying to try the food. It could just be as simple as saying “hi, we will be right with you”. NOTHING. I wish I could give ZERO star....
