Okay, so we had been on the road for 4.5 hours. In Houston our IHOP is very accommodating with request, not in Dallas or Addison, TX. The ladies at the front spoke so fast we didn't understand what she said so we asked again and this time she slowed it down for Texas ears... Lol. After we were seated this guy comes up to the table, talking, I kid you not, like Ted in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. "Hey, like can I get ya something" So I ask if they would substitute 1 waffle for the two pancakes that come with the meal. I really don't like pancakes much. He said, "yeah we can, but there's like an upcharge for it" I said you charge to use less batter to make one waffle than two pancakes? "Yeah" "So how much would it be," I asked? $3.99. Then he showed me in the menu where I can get the exact same deal with a waffle instead of a pancake except the waffle deal didn't come with a chicken fried chicken . I said well, for $1 more I get a chicken fried chicken, I reckon I can eat pancakes. My brother orders and when he says, "how do you want your eggs"? My brother said soft scrambled. We didn't know, until we got the ticket/bill, that they charged an additional $.99 x 2 for scrambling the egg instead of frying it. Funny thing, when the waiter saw I was taking pictures of my food, it hit him that I might be doing a review. His whole attitude changed. He was respectful, quit talking like a high school kid and started speaking like a person with an education. Which tells me his Momma taught him right he just had a temporary lapse of judgement when we first got there. They didn't have Worcestershire sauce either. They offer T-bones, chicken fried steak, and multiple meat burgers but didn't have Worcestershire sauce. That's stuffs been around for nearly 200 years. I gotta tell you IHOP, I think you ought to change your name to International House of Pricing because you nickel and dime a patron to death. I really didn't want to give a tip but I chose to anyway, less than 10%. Oh, I almost forgot, wait til you see the pic of the restroom. I despise public restrooms, but when you're on the road all day you have no other choice, there was no seat covers in the dispenser, there was a piece of wet toilet tissue hanging from the toilet seat and the whole bathroom smelled like backed up sewer coming through the drain on the floor. Seriously disgusting. No hook to put your purse on, had to set it on the toilet paper dispenser, ewww! Oh and get this the chicken fried steak and the chicken fried chicken both cost the same but the chicken is half the size of the steak. Also, they serve the pancakes on a plate the same size as the pancake, although the presentation of it looks good, there's no room for syrup without it spilling onto the table. I'm not sure who chooses the pricing or the plates but they need a new job cause they ain't good at the one they got. You'll see from the pics, be sure and check them out. Sorry I didn't get the menu. I estimate that 90% of the menu is 11.99 or higher. I can get the exact same breakfast in my hometown from Busy Bee Cafe for $12.49. Yes that's higher price but they won't charge me for extra gravy, my chicken will be the size of a plate, and no extra charge for a waffle. This was my third time to eat at a IHOP, and my third time to be disappointed. It's sad, the food is good but the pricing and attitude and cleanliness leave a lot to be desired. I forgot that the waiter didn't keep our glasses filled we had to ask for refills when he happened by. That's about it for this review. Information regarding handicap parking, yes they have it, also they have ramps and a handicap stall in the restroom. There's a gals and a guys bathroom and parking is free and plenty of parking spaces. Y'all have a...
Read moreQuite the experience here: 4am is not the time to go looking for high cuisine, so my friends and I found our way to a good 'ol standard -IHOP. Our server was high, which would have been fine until he forgot one of our member's orders entirely. I understand, it's late, but if you're going to be high at work -make sure you can still perform your job! The "missing order" member of our group decided to just cancel her meal. But then, the meals. One out of the three of us, who got what they ordered, loved her food. Possibly because she was drunk (well yeah, it's 4am), but possibly out of luck. Another one of us had a Breakfast Sampler of which everything was stale except the eggs. Stale bacon my friends. Who knew it could go stale? Not me. Unedible bacon sounds paradoxical, yet here it was. Even the pancakes for this order were falling apart and mushy (weirdly opposite of normal staleness, but they were still stale). I just wanted a light dessert, so I had ordered the Lemon Ricotta Crepes and coffee. The crepes were fresh at least, buuuuut - tasted like an omlette. Like, the actual crepe portion of the meal tasted like egg. Really weird experience for me. The other flavors of the meal were on point, but it was difficult to get around this egg flavor where it shouldn't be. As for the coffee, well, just take normal IHOP coffee and take it down half a notch. It was a out there. Passable as 4am coffee after adding some cream and sugar. All in all, this would have been a very disappointing experience if it hadn't been for Shawna. Shawna was a manager level employee who happened to be doing paperwork near us (I hadnt noticed her previously). She overheard our complaints (we weren't complaining to the server, and we weren't going to seek a manager) and took it upon herself to fix the situation. She ended up comping most of the table, apologizing for the inconvenience, and being doing about exactly what I would expect a manager to do. The fact that it was unprompted was amazing initiative. We were going to quietly pay the bill and never return, but now we know that when we come back there are at least very competent managers there, so everything else should iron itself...
Read moreHorrible experience. THEE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! First we had to wait in the lobby 20 minutes before being seated, when there was obviously open tables. Then after waiting, a party of 10 or more just walked in behind us and sat themselves ahead of us, two. They weren't told to go back, they were greeted and served. Then when we walked back, we asked if we could sit in a section, we were dismissed by a waitress named Arely who said "one second!!", then turned her back. Meanwhile another server came to us, sat us and gave us drinks, then said Jasmine will be our server and was on her way. We sat another 30 minutes, as Jasmine and Arely walked casually by. Eventually, we waved our hands, and Jasmine who was on the phone, supposedly taking to-go orders pointed to us to have Arely come to the table. So Arely looked, and then went to another table of people who came after us, took their order and spoke to them in her native tongue. She continued to turn her back to us and ignore us. Finally a girl named Pau came to us, after we got loud. So we demanded to speak to the manager, instead. We told him what happened. He said sorry and that, at least we waited in the lobby, and not the table, that either way we would be waiting because he had a long ticket in the kitchen and 1 cook. He then said he would go back and cook our food personally and that Jasmine would come over. Jasmine finally came and denied any wrong on her part. After ordering she was very quick, but we told her that our meal would be covered by the manager. We were there 2 hours total.. I just don't understand why a manager would schedule ONE cook and 3 waitresses on a Friday night. Absolutely ridiculous!!! So his ineptitude became our problem and their lack of professionalism and customer service became our issue. I will never go there again...as long as THAT MAN is the manager. I had to tell him to address the waitress who was rude...otherwise he was just making...
