I asked a friend in the food service industry where to go for our recent anniversary and she recommended Kenny's, telling us that the food and service are what set this place apart. My expectations were pretty dang high to say the least! We had a 5:45 reservation and when we arrived we were told it would be just a little bit before we were seated. This was a Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed. It was standing room only near the bar which takes up almost half of the restaurant. The music was pretty dang loud along with the conversations. My first observation here was if you're looking for something quite or romantic this is not the place. Around 6:00 we were still waiting so we double checked with the hostess and were told they were about 30-40 minutes behind on seating people with reservations. This was incredibly frustrating because we were paying a babysitter by the hour and had desert plans for somewhere else. 27 minutes after our reservation we were seated. Our waitress was good but unfortunately it wasn't anything special. While this is normally just fine for some reason based on the other reviews I was really thinking the service was going to be above and beyond. The highlights of our dining experience were the pop up rolls they brought us along with the crab cake appetizer. These were both outstanding. From there on it was pretty disappointing. I ordered the ribeye cooked medium rare, but more on the rare side and my wife ordered the salmon. Her salmon was salted way too much but the sauces were good. My ribeye was cooked the way I ordered but the cut of meat was incredibly disappointing. For $56 I was expecting a legit cut of meat, but this was less than an inch thick. I could have gone to Chamberlin's and gotten a legit cut for the same amount. For sides the mac 'n cheese was great along with the french fries. I had two beers and our bill sans tip was around $135. We tip market value and got out for around $165. For the money we spent this trip was incredibly disappointing. For others thinking about coming here I'd make sure you understand this is not a quite, romantic place. it's loud and bustling. The food is good, but you can get MUCH better quality elsewhere for the same price. I wish it had lived up to the expectation and I definitely gave it my best shot, but starting off with a 30min delay on seating with a reservation was not...

Update because I went back

Our server Carenia was an angel and Kenny's makes ambrosia (the food of the gods). This place has always been tops on my list and continues to get better. Carenia promptly took out drink order. Espresso martini and Old Fashioned. She then explained the menu to my date who had never ate there before. She was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. The drinks arrived on point, very well made and beautiful. The manager, Amelia, came by suggested that we try the sample appetizer platter. Not sure if this is a menu item but beg and plead for it. It included a crab cake, firecracker shrimp, and beef crustini. She then told us about the daily special, your choice of steak topped with crab cake.

After we had the appetizer, it was obviously we had to have the crab cake and steak as they were on the sample platter. We were drooling at this point for more. I added the Chilean Sea Bass with a split side of Brussel Sprouts and Mac and cheese.

We had another round of drinks then the main courses arrived. My date was elated over the steak, a ribeye medium rare. Perfectly cooked with a nice crust and oozing beautiful complex, yet traditional flavors. After sampling her dish I moved on to my Chilean Sea Bass. It was practically falling off my fork. Not sure of the sauce but, Kenny's chef is doing the Lord's work. My date offered to trade me her amazing steak for my fish.. we decided to split plates. Again, the crabcake on top of he steak was mind blowing. These are not cheap cakes, packed full with massive chunks of fresh crab. We both enjoyed the brussel sprouts. Lastly and a huge shout out to the Mac and cheese. I'm not one to gush over Mac but.. it almost runs away with my craving for tasty comfort food. All in all, I can't say enought about Kenny's, the Chefs, my server Carina, and the Manager Amelia for orchestrating the whole symphony of palate pleasure. Thank you thank you!

Have been going to Kenny's for like 10 years. Glad to report it has remained that same. It's one of the BEST restaurants in North Texas. Service is always excellent, food is to die for, and they can make a good drink. Atmosphere is pretty casual but don't be fooled, this is a upscale restaurant. Hope to keep coming back for...

I’m not sure why I have never reviewed this place because it’s truly great. We came here Saturday night for our anniversary. We have actually spent our last 3 here (4 total) and love it every time. The food is simply delicious without being overthought. Anyone could come here and find something they love. It appeals to your average meat and potatoes kind of guy all the way over to your super foodie friend with high standards.

But it’s not just the food that keeps this place busy. It’s the spectacular service. From replacing your martini glass mid drink with a new frosted one to keep your drink fresh. To the way they don’t rush you to make decisions or push you out the door as soon as your done. To the timing they have things delivered without being asked. The whole meal is an experience. Go as a date or go with friends. No matter what, you’ll enjoy it.

Pro tip: make a reservation! Especially if you want to eat at a descent hour on a weekend. And make them at least a few weeks in advance.

Specific food review:

Our go-to favorites (as we’ve been more than a handful of times in the ten or so years they’ve been there) are: -apps: tenderloin crustinis, French onion soup -sides: adult mac and cheese, creamed spinach -entree: we don’t have a favorite as we tend to get pulled in by the specials

This last visit we shook things up a bit and tried some new things. We had the grilled oysters and lobster bisque for our apps. Both were beyond delicious. The oysters had so much flavor the way they were cooked. And the bisque was creamy profection with a strong lobster flavor. They definitely don’t skimp on ingredients!

I had “the Oscar” for dinner which came with California sea bass and a lump crab cake on top. I ordered it with the creamed spinach. Everything about it was perfection. I could have eaten the spinach alone and been happy. And the flavor on the bass with the hollandaise sauce was rich and a little decadent for a fish dish.

My husband ordered the filet special with poached lobster. It was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. He also had the on-special creamed corn which was great but water beware, comes with a slight kick to it. So great for the spice lovers!

For dessert we finished with the bread pudding. It’s a simple dish but...
