I wanted to talk to someone in charge over this, but the store did not have a manager on duty, so this review is being written instead. Today was the last time stepping in this store after having been a customer for over 35 years (first when it was Substation II and then in its present incarnation). There has been a noticeable decline in service and quality in the past few months, coincident with a marked increase in cost. After a string of erroneous orders, incomplete orders, charging for requested addons but not getting them (e.g., extra meat and cheese, but NO extra meat or cheese, and so). Wait times have increased even during non-busy hours. Today, I guess I have had enough making the personal sacrifice supporting a local small business.
Today should have been simple. I called in for one sandwich to go. I arrived about 15 minutes after the call order. Not ready, but “they’re right on it.” Paid for the order and then waited. And waited. And waited some more. After 20 minutes, the employee who took my payment came back from his break and noticed I was still waiting. The sandwich was indeed ready, wrapped, and bagged next to the cash register with my name on it. No one called out that the order was ready. No one. The young girl behind the register was indifferent and uncommunicative; overall, less than helpful. When I walked up to grab my order, I said, “I’ve been waiting for over 20 minutes. You could have called my name out.” The employee who saw me, replied “sorry.” The cash register girl just shrugged and continued playing the apathetic mute.
There is nothing special about their menu. It is bread, meat, cheese, and condiments. There are no special abilities to assemble a 25-dollar sandwich (no drink – that’s just the sandwich). For this amount, I would expect convenience, quality, and service (and I am happy to pay for those attributes). I have been seeing none of that of late. I’ll be making my own; it will be faster and less expensive. Today, I am celebrating not ever having to interact with a surly, indifferent, and ineffective sandwich...
Read moreChaos! We arrived during shift change that unfortunately we paid for. It was not good for a quick dinner. We had chips and tea. My chips were not fresh! We didn't have time to eat the sandwiches so we saved them for later. My goto sandwich is a Reuben. My husband got a Gyro. Both were so disappointing! Reuben was meat a slice, one slice! of cheese and NO sauerkraut! From Google: To make a proper Reuben sandwich, start by preparing the key components: heat the corned beef and drain the sauerkraut thoroughly to prevent a soggy sandwich. Use rye bread, preferably Jewish or marble rye, and spread butter on one side of each slice. For the dressing, use either Thousand Island or Russian dressing; the latter, made with mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and sugar, is often preferred for its authentic flavor. Assemble the sandwich by layering one side of the bread with dressing, followed by Swiss cheese, hot corned beef, and drained sauerkraut, then top with the remaining bread slice, dressing side down. Grill the sandwich in a skillet over medium heat, butter-side down, until golden brown and the cheese is melted, which typically takes 3-4 minutes per side. For best results, cover the sandwich with a lid during cooking to trap steam and melt the cheese, then remove the lid to crisp...
Read moreWent to just Julie’s for the first time Tuesday 03/28/23, and while the food was spectacular, I can’t see myself going back. Halfway through my order a seemingly new girl took over and the initial girl walked away (the new girl kept going to her throughout for instruction… so my order took quite awhile to get through). Everything was fine and I understand training new people… what I wasn’t okay with, was the new girl openly chewing gum above my food. None of the other workers commented on it so I assume it’s not against policy. I’ve never been to a place that allowed workers to chew gum in a food handling area (let alone while handling the food).
Sucks because they did have great food and friendly staff
————— Gave them another try, food was great again and that girl didn’t seem to be working (so no spit yay)… except I watched a worker doing large order press the receipts against the people’s sandwiches to bring them back to her station. The lady in front of me was also visibly grossed out and ask for them not to press the dirty receipts on her food…
The young man making my food did excellent and I was very happy but I seriously have my doubts these employees get much proper food handling training.
This place seems to be a mixed bag…...
