Okay LOOK. We drove from Arizona to Juneau so we know our Mexican food. This place has it DOWN. The food is immaculate, perfectly balanced and checks off all the boxes. We had a split party of vegan and not and both groups of people LOVED the food.
Vegan food & 2) non vegan food:!! The tacos are a general build with a protein option, so I ordered the tacos with vegan chorizo and asked for it to be vegan so they kept off the non vegan garnishes (cheese) I also added a side of their green chili chimichurri to put on the tacos and I couldn't have been more satisfied. This place knocks it out of the park and I will 100000% go again before we leave!
Sweet potato and tofu burrito (ordered vegan, so no cheese) The burrito was jam packed with flavor, packed with food, and left my partner and I fighting for bitez
All in all, incredible food, cool people, and...
Read moreJohnathan is originally from Tennessee and told me he was a chef down there for 20+ yrs and let me tell you, this dude knows his flavors. I didn't expect to find good Mexican (fusion) food in Alaska but this is a must try if you are on a cruise or just visiting Skagway. It's not authentic so don't expect an entire elote slathered with mayo and cotija but it's delicious nonetheless.
The homemade chorizo is outrageously good, it's a perfect blend of flavor and heat without being a greasy mess like those Cacique tubes you buy at the supermarket. The elote isn't on a stick but it's just as delicious. And as always if the rice and beans are good then you know the chef knows how to make Mexican food and that is definitely the case here.
The location is convenient and not far from the main street. No dedicated seating but there is a standing table to place your food on....
Read moreExcellent taco stand. Had chorizo and chicken tacos. Sides of beans and street corn. Great ingredients and simple street style tacos. They of course have a couple of other things too. But all I have eyes for are tacos. Was thoroughly pleased to find this place was still open, catering to non-cruise patrons. Because, as we walked around town, places weren't open because a ship wasn't in. PRO TIP. Don't rely on Google Maps for hours. Call ahead, ask a local, or just take a short walk or drive past and see if they are open. They're in a red remodeled schoolie. Don't know if there are tables usually set up, but seeing how it was end of season perhaps chairs were already put up? There are a couple of stand-up wooden shelves for the dine-and-dashers though. Otherwise, walk/drive and eat or sit across the street on their bench ?if they...
