We were overcharged!!!!! We wanted the one piece $83 crab and we were told that they didn’t have anymore but they had one for $109. I did not want to buy it by my friend being desperate and her mouthwatering for a crab she said yes. we were told it’s quite a bit over a pound. Since I do a lot of shipping, so when I picked it up, I don’t think it was more than 14 ounces. I don’t know if his weight was uncooked, but I was assuming it should’ve been cooked. It came with no side dish. The waiter said that the other people did not complain and they got the same one. We bumped into those people on the outside and I asked them about it and they said they paid $83 for that large crab, and they felt as if it was a rip off. They were disappointed also. Speaking to the waiter was like speaking to a wall so we asked for a manager who came over and she was a real chatterbox. We were upset because of the price and nothing is included. So she did give us a large amount of coleslaw. We are older women who have been eating out a lot and I do a lot of reviews. I would not recommend a $109 crab claw. Those people also said they were not impressed with the 1 pound claws. They were not impressed with their lunch. Maybe we just had bad luck. The claw tasted good, but we were not impressed with the amount of meat on the inside either. We’ve had better. We love to travel and eat out often.
I took a picture of the fish and chips. The people ordered next to us and it looked really good. We regretted not ordering that fish and chips. The people were happy with it.
Update: please note that this business and other businesses in the area are used to people from ships coming in and spending money and not leaving reviews. So here is an update. This is something that I purchased locally near me in Florida. It was the same size or close to the weight. The one in Florida had a definitely amount of more fuller meat in the claw.
I know we were taking advantage of this place. It was late and that our ship that was leaving that day. You judge for yourself. Please note my hands are much longer than my friend in the first pictures. I recommend going to Tracy’s. I had a lot of good feedback from passengers on their crab meat. Unfortunately, we went on an excursion all you can eat done just crab so we did...
Read moreJune 2023 We came to Skagway on a cruise, and this place was one of the recommended food places. It's a bit out of the way, by the pier farthest from downtown. Maybe a 15-20 minute walk from downtown. Note the entrance is on the water side. We approached from the back and saw a sign pointing us to the right direction.
They have a 2 sided covered porch before the main entrance with outside seating, mainly 2-4 people tables with one area to the side that looks like it's for larger parties. When you walk in, there's a waiting room with a counter at the back. The lady there asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. After telling her inside, she seated us at a 6 person table under one of the ceiling fans.
The inside is dimly lit, with lots of decorations on the walls and ceilings. As I mentioned, there are ceiling fans too. There is a bar with high chairs, as well as booths, 6-people round tables, and 2-people booth/chair tables. There were also 2 larger corner booths thay could probably fit 8-10 people at a squeeze. Note there are a good number of flies flying around, the ones that seem typical of a seafood restaurant.
Our server was friendly and attentive. She automatically gave us more time when she saw we were still looking at the menu when she served us drinks. When we put our menus down, she was quick to come over and take our orders. She was also quick to notice when our water was running low and refilled without us having to ask. To pay with card, the server used a handheld machine to read the card and gave it to us to give tips and approve the payment.
All the food we got was delicious. The prices were a little bit high, but seemed on par for a seafood restaurant in a tourist town. The Halibut Fish n Chips were good. The fish was soft and a little juicy, not very crunchy on the outside. They used just enough batter and they weren't too oily. The Mermaid Halibut Sandwich was also good, not too salty, and you can taste the fish's natural sweetness. Note that they serve the sandwich veggies on the side, so you can choose how much to put on your sandwich. The french fries were a little too salty, but were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Overall, good food and good service. Would...
Read moreMy husband and I were on a cruise and Skagway was our last port. We are from a small town in Idaho, so there isn't a large amount of fresh seafood in our area (other than fresh water fish). While we were walking from our ship into town, this was the first restaurant we saw and I saw the sign advertising King Crab and although I don't eat seafood, I knew we had to stop by so he could eat some fresh king crab. We stopped in there on our way back to the ship after hiking up to Dewy Lake and were famished. The place was so busy and since we only had an hour before we had to be aboard, was a little worried we wouldn't have time. We asked the hostess how long it would take and she said that an hour would be plenty of time to order and eat, so we did. To my surprise we were seated right away and ordered and had our food with like 20 minutes. He had the combination 2, two king crab legs for around $90 and I had a chicken sandwich. Our food came out super fast so I was a little worried it wasn't going to be that good. My chicken sandwich was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, it was perfectly cooked and seasoned, I ate the entire thing and the fries! My husbands king crab (he said) was delicious and huge! We had great service, I wish I could remember our waiters name, he was really good, with a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting some great food, good beer and...
