A story of 2 rookies unknowingly entering into one of the most praised locations for cocktails and small plates in Albuquerque. We were staying at Hotel Parq Central, so we decided to check out the restaurant to see what kind of food they offer. We ordered mocktails, bacon wrapped dates and tacos. The mocktails were great and the tacos pleased. Many of the bacon wrapped dates were missing the jalapenos. I even opened one up to look and it was empty. I was so hungry from holding my appetite from breakfast to dinner, then I decided to eat it anyway. Then the server walked up and asked us how the food was. I gave feedback that many of the wraps were missing jalapenos. The server then checked with the cook, who insisted that they were in there. I left the restaurant with a feeling of disappointment in myself for not saving the last wrap just so I could show them what I had saw before I ate them. This led me to conclude that this could not be a 5-star because of the error with the food, especially at a small plate place. Not a 4-star because of the lack of acknowledgement an error occurred, not a single, even small compromise was made. Nevertheless, the server was still tipped because he was kind and rejected us in the most polite...
Read moreMy husband and I chose to end our Saturday evening at the Apothacary lounge while in town from Phoenix. We ordered 2 prickly pear margaritas. When received, they tasted overwhelmingly strong of bad tequila...not at all like the ones we've gotten in Phoenix or Tuson at multiple restaurants and night spots. So after the first sip, we both ordered other drinks. I got a DiSorono on the rocks and he got a beer - no mixed drinks. When it came time to pay, we were given a tab that included all 4 drinks. As female who was not our actual server grabbed the check book with my Visa in it, my husband explained about how the first 2 drinks(still sitting untouched at our table) were a bit too strong. The female looked appalled and shot back at him, "they were perfectly poured and so we can't take them off the bill because there is nothing wrong with them." She then went on to tell us that they are batched drinks. Her attitude was very poor, so that's when I stepped into the convo to let her know just that. As a former bartender myself, I knew that the drinks tasted off by the first sip. Even the color wasn't right on them. We still paid for the 4 drinks and enjoyed the beautiful views, but batched drinks, made who knows when,...
Read moreI went here for Thanksgiving because I was staying at the hotel below, I was staying at Hotel Parq Central and I have a separate review for them. The first thing I will start off with is the one thing I did not like, I do not like the name I find it distasteful, you see an apothecary is an old timey pharmacy and Hotel Parq Central was both a tuberculosis hospital and a psychiatric hospital in the past that is my one problem with the place, other than that let me explain why it is so great. First off the food while the selection was small the fajitas plate I had was amazing. The food didn't take super long and the price was reasonable. Next the drink I got was their version of the Moscow Mule, I have had a $3 cocktail, I have had a $5 cocktail, I have had an $8 cocktail and now I have had a $12 cocktail and the difference even just between $8 and $12 is phenomenal, it wasn't too alcohol heavy and nothing was too much in it, it was perfect and worth every dime. The staff was pleasant and easy on the eyes as well as winning personalities. I cannot say enough good things about this cozy little gem in Albuquerque! Definitely recommend this place to anyone...
