I visited on a rainy Wednesday afternoon, and service was quick and friendly. I ordered the nachos not expecting it to be so huge, and it came with a choice of protein (at no extra charge); I opted for the asada. They were out of jackfruit at the time of my visit. Located right off central, so parking might be an issue if it’s busy. The entrance is directly across the Imperial Motel check-in. There were other ‘restaurants’ within the building, but only one other was open. They have a patio overlooking Central. ***IF you decide to pay with cash, try to bring smaller bills and coins. We had an issue with buying a drink and the register had no change to break a $20 or $5. This was not a big issue, but thought it would be helpful to mention for people who still use cash.

I asked the owner for a recommendation and he suggested the Philly plate (cheesesteak style sub with a side of beans and rice). Normally I would have passed on a Philly sandwich but I took his word for it and WOW...I'm still thinking about that plate. The flavor of the mushroom/seitan blew me away. The bun was perfectly chewy. The beans and rice could have come straight out of an abuela's kitchen. I had to go back the next day for a burrito (which smelled and tasted so delicious that I forgot to take a photo) and yet again the day after for a quesadilla. Everything was superb with incredible quality and flavor. The portions were huge and a great value.

Talk about a gem! This place is fantastic! Just when I thought abq couldn't get even better vegan food - what with Vegos, Itality, and others - this place goes and opens up a proper nice brick and mortar location. I always wanted to hit their food truck but it just never worked out, now that they're in a great central location with regular hours it's a breeze! I highly recommend the tacos with the seitan mushroom asada filling, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Jerome (owner) is such a nice guy and what a great chef as well! Support this local business!!!

UPDATE:

Our 4th or 5th time here and just as awesome as ever. Honestly, this is some of the best new mexican food I've ever had, vegan or not. Fantastic red and green chili!

Some of the best vegan food I've ever had. So much flavor!! Just amazing. I had the loaded fries and the green chili on it was fantastic. Wonderful, wonderful food. As a vegan, it is so hard to get stuff that actually has some taste. There were grilled veggies, cheese, Christmas chili, beans, rice--and other stuff I'm probably forgetting. I ate too much and there was still a ton left.

The place where we ate (the Imperial Motel compound, or something like that) would have been a lot nicer without the music. It was just too freaking loud, kinda like having a DJ in a public bathroom, with the sound bouncing all over the place.

We ended up getting our food to go and it traveled well and was still...
