I just made their first pasta 'kit'...Manchego Calabacitas Pasta. OMG...it was delicious. The ingredients were top notch and the instructions were easy to follow. It does take a bit of time, there is chopping and dicing involved but the final product is terrific! Looking forward to the next kit!!
We've bought their frozen homemade pasta many times and it is to die for...especially the lemon pappardelle and lemon bucatini!
Well, we made the second kit for week 2 of the June Pasta kit series. It was just as delicious...Italian Sausage and Greens. It was gigli pasta, the cutest ruffled spiral pasta (made with spinach so it was green) along with Italian sausage, broccolini and chives and romano cheese. There was also lemon juice, garlic and red pepper. It is nice that you can adjust the ingredients to your taste and Alana provides guidelines for how to do that along with preparation tips! We shared the meal with friends and they were thrilled too! We are anxious to see what is on the menu for next week. Unfortunately we won't be able to do the following weeks...hoping this is a recurring project!!
11/13/21 Since Google won't let me add a second review I'll just add to my original. Tonight we had the Week 2 November Pasta Club kit: Nduja, Tomato, Tuscan Kale and 3 greens rigati . Another hit! Everything in these kits is top notch quality, not just the pasta! The Tuscan kale was gorgeous! It is so nice to be able to easily try out something new...no hassle...everything is right there. The instructions are excellent and easy to follow. This week's was delicious...we aren't big eaters so 1/2 of the sauce and 1/2 of the pasta was enough for 2 dinners for the 2 of us (add some bead and a salad and viola! The cooking tip from Alana clued us to freeze half the sauce to have with the rest of the pasta another time. We can't wait til next week's kit - hoping...
Read moreThe person who that was working the register, was rude and condescending. I handed a $ 100.00 bill to her for a 16.00 order. I expected her to count the change back as anyone who is trained in this field would know to count it back as to make sure it is correct for the customer as well as ensuring the drawer has no issues. But nope, she tried to hand it all back at once. When I asked to please count it back she became upset. And counted it back to me close to my face loudly, one bill at a time with a smug grin on her face. The order was to have green chile and some red pepper flake in it. The order however was hotter than it should of been. It was not red pepper it was it was either ghost pepper or scorpion chile flake. I believe the person working the register did this on purpose since I asked her to count the change back. Could of been a customer for life, now I am going to tell everyone to avoid this place due to the condescending attitude and the tampering with my wifes and...
Read moreAt Sawmill I decided on trying Tulipani and got the lemon cream chicken pasta that additionally came with capers.
It looked delicious, and the airy shredded parmesan on top was intriguing. What a disappointment. The pasta itself was slightly dry (versus al dente) and the chicken was both tough and dry. With some of the larger chicken pieces they were rubbery in addition to tough. The pasta was counter serve, so of course the chicken was not cooked fresh and had likely been sitting under a heat lamp or in some sort of warmer for some time.
I wish I could say the sauce would have saved the pasta had the noodles and chicken not been dry, but it wouldn’t have even if those were moist. The sauce was… there. It wasn’t memorable either way.
I think two stars is a fair assessment. The service was fine, the presentation interesting, and the food not unpalatable. But would I eat...
